2007 Toyota Tundra spy pic.s

Toyota's very good at hiding their test vehicles and the new tundra is no exception. Here's what edmunds found out so far:

Visible styling cues up front include a horizontal bar grille and substantial bulges in the hood. The rest of the truck's profile looks similar to the recently redesigned Tacoma midsize truck except for one notable difference. One look at the profile shot reveals what appears to be a crew cab of mammoth proportions — or should we say "megacab" proportions.

In order to move this mountain of a truck, Toyota is expected to up the displacement of the Tundra's V8 to as much as 5.4 liters. Power should be comparable to current offerings from the Big Three and Nissan, so figure horsepower in the 300-350 range and similar torque numbers.

Looks like a BEAST.

I am in the market for an 05 SE CC. If I dont get it for the price I have in mind, I will wait for this BEAST to come out. I heard this truck will have a displacement engine and will get upwards of 25 mpg on the highway. Look at the backdoor, in one word----- MASSIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am also wanting to know how NISSAN will combat this beast. 07 will be a very FUN year for pick-ups.

Either the cab is 'mamoth, or more likely the rest is small and cab the same size as others. Look at the guy, he looks big. Also, I think the rear door ends well before the camo door edge. You can see a seam about 6" running top to bottom before the edge of the camo. The portion over the bed is obviously fake so this is probably just another attempt to break up the lines. I think it will have similar scale to the current Tundra based on the photos but be slightly wider. Still not as large as us, Dodge, or Ford though.

You know, that truck photo can pass as a titan in photo #2.

I think that extra cab section in the rear is just to add volume and confuse other companies out there. I"m sure they don't want that extra avalance style support beams ruining the style...

They plan on having a 1ton and offering a diesel by the 2008 model year,so Im guessing it'll be about the same size as the Titan,Ram,and F-150.

I know my local Toyota dealer is moving the Lexus lot so they can have a "truck only" lot, and they have plans of having a much bigger bay for the next generation Tundra.

That mega cab makes the bed look mega mini. It looks like it's only about three feet long!

Look how much space they have in that front wheel well! Guess they wont need a level kit. Whats up with that rear bumper or tow hitch. I can't tell whats going on. And that megacab section is deffinatly fake.

yep that extra cab section looks like an 'add on' to throw others off. from the side it looks almost exactly like the titan--short square box with large doors and a 'cab forward, sloped front end'.

it will be interesting to see what under the hood gets!!!

strange that Toyota has used 6-bolt axles for years...the pic shows 5-bolt wheels.

The rear door looks much larger than ours.. indicating a bigger cabin to me. Also noticed the large antenna on top and the small mirrors.

Lot of those stuffs are there to throw people off, the difference car magazine like R&T or Motor Trend usually do a good job at "removing" those stuffs from spy photos and giving the readers a good look at what to expect (using computer technology) hope they do the same with these photos.

But I still think it looks small. Either it is similar in size to the current Tundra, or a 7' Wookie is driving. You can't even see the top of his head. I know you would see it in Ford/Dodge/Titan though.

Also, the "mega cab" is mega fake The real door seam is where the truck camo seam is. Same for the bed. Its a "disguise" to make it look different from the real appearance.

As for Diesel and full ton versions, you don't need to be large to do that. The ridgeline is a half ton truck. The Liberty comes with a diesel. Just because Ford Chevy Dodge SD trucks are uber trucks doesn't mean you need to be an uber truck to have those features. They could very easily put some frame strengtheners and a diesel in the current Tundra to get a 1 ton with diesel.

TOYota has to prove to me they grew up, but so far I still just see a teenager, not adult truck.
