Passenger seat angle?

I'd like to hear from people that changed the angle of the front seat. I know I read that some used washers/spacers, but I'd really like to hear from the ones that actually changed something within the seat mechanics.

I know that leveling the truck would remedy this problem, but I'm not looking to do that just yet.

Any comments on what you've done, and pics would be great.

Thanks!

Well guys, I guess no one tried anything.

Well I did, I took the seat out tonight and found the 2 bolts holding the front of the seat down.(they both have white paint on the heads). I removed them and went to the auto parts store. I bought 2 new ones that were about twice as long. I didn't want to use alot of washers as spacers, so I went with 2 nuts and one washer. A total of about 1 inch of lift was given, to the front of the seat. i will go with that for now, and if I need to come up more I will later.

So far just sitting in it in the garage, it feels wonderfull. I even had the wife sit in it and she was very pleased.

I will update again soon!

Be careful, I don't know for sure but you just might be compromising your seats safety during a serious accident. Make sure you use grade 8 hardware (yellow steel).

I now feel guilty and uncaring for not giving a rats patooty about my passengers comfort. Does that make me a bad person?

Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks the front captains chairs don't tilt up enough in the front!

Bugs,

Your definelty right. I was very interested in keeping the strenght there during any accident situation. That's primarily why I didn't go with spacers under the chair carriage.

The front of the "butt" or bottom section of the seat is just held down with 2 8-1.25x25(aprox) bolts. I replaced them with 2 8-1.25x40mm class 10.9 hex cap screws, which are actually closer in strength to a grade 8 bolt.

I've owned the truck for just at a year now, and I've know from about the second week that I hated the passenger seat. I just never really sat there that often, so it wasn't a big deal. After riding in that seat for about 30 minutes last weekend, I new I needed to make a change. I just feel really bad now, looking back at how many long trips my wife endured that position and never really complained. That's over now though, and I'm sure this will be her favorite mod to the truck.

How does the front of the seat look? Does the cushion skirt still cover the frame?

Many Did Mod,but

RSAYLOR,many of us did this mod to both the passengers seat and the drivers seat with the bench seat setup. The bench seat seat angle is terrible on the 04's(it seemed a little better on 05's I sat in ,but maybe I wasn't in them long enough).I was constantly sliding forward(despite sinking so deeplt into the very soft foam);it drove me nuts.
I finally put a 7/8" bushing under the seat front of the rivers and passengers seat-just as you did.It is the best mod I have ever done on any vehicle.I managed a 1600 mile-35 hr trip with no problems.
I -we-didn't post because you were aware of these mods and were looking for something else.
You are right-this will be your favorite mod-the front seats border on unuseable without it.Luck,Charlie
PS The QC was so poor-bolt holes not lining up that I really had to muscle the bolts into place..

It looks fine, yes it still covers the frame.

I keep my driver's seat angled almost all the way up, and the passenger seat is just under that angle right now. It looks almost the same as far as the skirt is concerned.

I will post pics in just a moment.

I'm taking the boat out of Ponce Inlet tomorrow, I can't wait to hear how the wife likes it.

I hated the forward slope as well, then I installed a PRG lift kit and that fixed most of it.

Thanks, looks like I'll finally get around to fixing it. I started to once but didn't have any longer bolts on hand.

Did anyone notice a slop in the drivers seat as well? Just asking, because if one is angled shouldnt the other be the same?
