2006 Nissan Titan

Hi all,

My lease just ended on my Dodge Ram 1500 and over the weekend I drove a 2006 Nissan Titan (crew cab). I was VERY impressed, however, would like others opinions on it. I've read through consumer mag. on it and Edmunds and of course there is always something negative about it.

Some background on myself, I am a 5 ft. female...I had numerous size issues with the Dodge and backed into numerous things (don't laugh). Would I be overwhelmed in the Titan..even though it has the beeper system?

Also, consumer reports says the engine is annoying and loud...any truth to that?

ANy info. would be greatly appreciated.

My Titan is my first Full Sized truck. My previous vehicle was a Honda Accord Coupe. So needless to say, I had to get used to the size. But I would not want to have a car again unless I have a truck as well. Something that might help you out with backing up is to install a "back up camera". I plan to. The Titan is a great truck and I don't think you will be disapointed!

The back-up sensors are nice.... overall, it's a great truck. The bigger mirros make the truck a lot wider than with the smaller ones. I am in the opposite camp for the size thing... I am 6'4" and feel like I would fit a lot better in this truck if I were a few inches shorter.

First of all welcome to Titan Talk.

Second, this "beeper system" a.k.a. rear sonar works great for me so far. The truck is big and I have found it actually easier to back into parking spaces rather then pull in and this is due partly to the rear sonar.

As far as the engine being too loud, that is not true. A lot of people (myself included) have put aftermarket exhaust systems on to make them louder and get more power. My wife complained of the new exhaust at first, but now (and she won't admit it) she actually likes riding in and driving it because of the sound.

Buy it and you will love this truck. Hope this helps.

My Wife is 5" 1' on a good day. She loves the truck. I don't know if other trucks offer it, but the adjustable footpedals make my wife's life so much easier. Whenever I let her drive the truck you she see her face light up. I don't think you will be disappointed.

If she has managed to park it without wrecking it yet, anyone can.

You'll love the Titan. Not very much at all to complain about. Just won a best overall vehicle award. Since your previous vehicle was a Ram 1500, you don't have very much to worry about because you are already familiar with the basic characterics of a pickup. Rear sonar and self adjusting pedals will definitely be a plus if you decide to go that route. My wife drives my Titan all the time. I don't have rear sonar or adjustable pedals and she doesn't have any problems although she's a little taller at 5'7". Good luck.

You wont be disappointed! I sure was not, sonar system works great, plus you can adjust the pedals to your convenient height.

I would recommend that you test drive the Titan and listen for yourself with regard to the exhaust note. It was interesting how I never noticed the exhaust volume the first time I test drive the Titan, I was very taken aback with the beauty, features, and new technology this truck has over the competition. However, on my subsequent test drives, I did notice, or was more aware of the exhaust note. Now compared to the Sequoia, which I currently drive the Titan does produces more noticeable exhaust note, and this may not be a good comparison e.g., SUV & pickup truck., compared to a Ford 150 (Lariat), you will definitely notice and hear the Titan’s exhaust note, I did test drove the 150 also.

However, I think it is a matter of preference if you will you like it or not, it’s up to you to decide. Now, I don’t want to influence your purchasing decision, and I do not want to bash the competitors, but my research, on the web, reading numerous reviews, owner feedbacks, gives the Titan the edge over the competition. On a more personal preference, I really like the Titan’s overall body style, the front end really blends well with the body style, (the crew cab) especially the Galaxy black and the chrome trimmings makes this truck as good looking as my black 03’ Harley Heritage Softail Classic.

So have I bought one yet? I am trying to hold as much as to see if Nissan will discount further the 05’s. Here in San Diego, last check showed about 451 combined 05s & 06s Titan’s in the dealer’s inventory. Hopefully more discounts are coming.

Hi Bernadette,

I am a 5' and female. I have no problems driving my Titan. Besides the adjustable pedals, I also have the power adjustable seats. They help a lot. I used a cushion to sit on in my '97 Tahoe. Don't need one in the Titan.

The rear sonar does help when backing up, particularly when little cars try to sneak by you when you're backing up in parking lots. They always do that!

The Titan exhaust is definitely more noticeable than some of the other trucks I test drove. But I don't mind it.

I'm 5'6" and love driving my Titan. I've always had cars, minivans, and mid-size SUVs prior to my Titan. I would never go back to anything smaller. I did back into a log with my previous Titan and broke the hitch wiring........$12 later it was all fixed, but hubby still ribs me about it (well, that was until he backed into a downed tree and did $2500 worth of damage to his Dodge). I haven't hit anything with the new Titan, although sometimes parking is a bear, I just figure I'll park out further and get some exercise. I love the power, the sound, how the truck drives, heck, I just love my truck. Go for it, you won't be sorry!!

I did notice the note to be a bit louder once you put some miles into the truck.But then again,it could just be that I wasn't paying attention when I test drove it.But I luv how to tows.Can't wait to see how it sounds against my brothers Tundra.No bees in that Tundra.
But go with the adjustable pedal and 8-way adjustable seat for backup if you decide you need to use it.
