Shiny dashboard rant...
I was browsing my dealer's used car lot while waiting for an oil change last week. They had 3 2004 Titans, each fairly new with less than 15,000 miles.
For some reason, the dealer, as part of their cleaning, had SLATHERED the entire dash and console with Armor All, or some other ultra-shiny goop.
While designing the Titan, I'm sure Nissan's people had a meetings and decided it would look way better if the dash wasn't shiny, so they gave it a matte finish. Shiny looks cheap. I can't think of any new cars that come with shiny dash materials.
I wonder what the used-car manager is smoking that makes him think he'll sell the truck faster if he overrides all of Nissan's deisgners time and expense by glossing-up the dash. Armor All looked great 20 years ago. Now it's 2005 and shiny doesn't work anymore.
I asked the salesperson while they do that, and got 'Well, because that's the way we've always done it.'
Exactly who buys a used Titan with a shiny dash?
Anyway, my 2 cents. Thanks.
