Yeah, I didn't like to fight when I was a kid. Mainly because it was always that one guy and his four friends that wanted to kick my butt all at the same time.
Small nit pick but it was a 92 Chevy/GMC K1500 6.2L diesel that got 18city/22hwy. It was from the Dec 2004 issue of Four Wheeler in the "MPG Hall of Fame " article by Jim Allen. Also noted was an 86 Ford Ranger with a Mitsubishi 2.3L TD, 28/31!! Diesels in smaller pickups are definitely not new and since so many years have passed since then, putting the hi-tech diesels of today into 1/2 ton and smaller pickups can only spark the industry into following the trend set by whoever does it first. You're upside down for about 6 years. These days most people trade their vehicles in every 3-5 years. If you are upside down when you trade you just roll more money into the next loan. Also if you total the truck or it gets stolen or whatever while you are upside down you are SOL unless you have GAP insurance. Even if you keep the truck and don't get in a wreck you end up paying 5-7K more in interest than a 60 month loan just to "save" $100/month.
84 month loan? WOW! I have to agree that if you need that long to pay something off, you should be driving something cheaper but....hey, that's how much people have to have the Titan!

No need to critisize him because of his loan. Just because he chose a long term dosent mean he cant afford it. He may just like the smaller payments just in case somthing comes up in life.
My friend could have easily paid cash for his 05 2wd king SE. Why he chose a 72 month term is beyond me.
Yes I am kidding, I wanted to see what would be said. I had this lady come in that had bought a '98 Tahoe and got an 84 month loan. She came in four years later and wanted to trade it in. She was flipped $12,000.00 dollars, she paid borrowed about $26,000 before. The only car that she could get into was a Cadillac SRX because of the rebate and max loan value. Which was @ 135%. She was so flipped.

For those saying demand isn't there for a 1/2 ton diesel. Well you can put me down for one. One from whomever comes to market first that is. Always wanted a diesel pickup but just can't justify a 3/4 ton. Personally I've always thought this was a huge missed opportunity for the industry. Would be a great way for Nissan or Toyota to turn the "little 3" on it's ear again.

I have heard that ford is working on a 1/2 ton diesel. what i heard it was a smaller V8 that would be twin turbo with one turbo serving the bottom end of the rpm range and the other the mid and top end. This is not confirmed its just something I remember hearing. The whole purpose for setting up the turbo that way was for increased drivablity the twin purpose turbos would make the truck drive and respond more like a gas engine but have the longevity and fuel milage of a diesel. I am in know means a ford fan but they do a great job giving consumers what they want.
