ok so i'm at the dealership the other day and he gives me a price of 24,5 (including the 2,250 cash back) it's an se crew cab stripped with just se captain pack and floor mats. truck is msrp'd at 29,5 and invoiced at 26,5. ok so he's goin to me saying most likely after tax it'll be around 27 (i believe that.. i mean tax and freight is automatic right?) so i told him we're down to put 5g's down. then this is where it hits.
he was tellin me (without looking at our credit yet, but i bet you he'd still be lyin his a$$ off) that it'd be a 450 dollar a month payment for 60 months. come on man, that's 12.5% interest (tell me if i'm wrong here with calculating interest.) then we go on and tell him maybe we're able to put 10g's down. he goes "that'll change about a hundred bucks. 'cause for every thousand you take out about 20 off the monthly payment." bullcrraaapp i mean now he's tellin me for dropping 10g's i'd pay 350 a month for 60 months. 23.5% interest? this guy must think i'm stupid 'cause he's saying 6% interest at 350 a month for 60 months, definitely not even right.
i mean it IS my first time getting a car and dealin with them, but come on.. 23.5%?
i'm thinkin more about dropping 10g's and paying 300 a month for 60 months (almost 6%), now THAT's more like it haha or even 295 (4%)
sorry for the vent guys.. i just need to go somewhere else besides antioch haha
I've been lookikng at the Sky-fi unit but nobody has made me feel comfy about what the install will look like. I want CLEAN no wires, etc... how did you install yours? got any pics?
Hypnotism, I HIGHLY recommend going to a local credit union to get your financing in order BEFORE talking to the dealer any more. You can get much much lower rates and it takes his "tool" away from him. Then you['re just talking "out the door pricing" and it's much easier to compare with other dealers.
I got financing from my credit union in less than 48 hours, INCLUDING joing as a new member. I got 5.4% with credit that's a little above average.

I'm paying 2% through Nissan. You are not going to find better than that anywhere. If you don't qualify for that, I would go to your local bank or credit union. Search around and find the best rate. Don't settle with the first one.
As far as the dealer goes, don't talk about anything but "on the road" price. Don't discuss financing with him until you agree on a final OTR price. Don't tell them how much you are going to pay down or how much you want your payments to be. Again, just discuss the final, final price after everything. Make them take care of the taxes and everything. I wouldn't pay much more than invoice for any truck, especially this late in the year. I got mine for $150 over invoice back in January. With the auto industry struggling as bad as it is right now, you should be able to get a great deal on a Titan.
Don't be afraid to go somewhere else. I highly recommend Glenn Nissan in Lexington, KY. If you can't go up there, I can get you a name and number to call. Hell, tell me what you want and I'll call them for you. Before I ever spoke to them in person, they told me that I could have any vehicle on their lot for $300 over invoice. I ended up better than that. To get the truck I wanted, they were going to send a hauler to North Carolina and pick it up and bring it, full of gas, to my house.
That is what I call service.

how old are you and what is your credit rating? They should have run a credit check on you to tell you the interest rate they're offering. My understanding is that if you take the $2k rebate, then you can't get the 2% interest rate. However, banks/credit unions are offering around 5% interest rates so tell them you'll look elsewhere for the loan and see what they say.

Jpup, I was assuming he wouldn't qualify for the 2% at the dealer since he opted for the cah back and was talking over 10% for financing. I didn't use the 2% dealer 'cause they wouldn't finanace for as long as I needed them to. A loaded LE take me a while to pay off
Did you get my PM about the sky-fi install?

he can always get a co-signer if that is an option for him. Get a co-signer and have them put it in his name and he will not have a credit issue ever again, as long as he pays the bill on time. After 5 years of on time payments, he will be able to buy whatever he wants at the best rate available.
check your pm.

This is exactly why I bought my truck by using the fax attack which can be purchased from FightingChance.com. You do not even have to deal directly with the awful salespeople. You just fax what you want and then let them compete for your business. You just have to be willing to do a little legwork. I just bought my Titan SE 4x4 with the Utility Bed Package and Popular Package w/ Capt. Chairs for $24,700 (including $3,000 rebate) and I got an 84 month, 100,000 mile no deductible warranty. The total w/tax and tags was $28,600. I did not set foot in one car dealership except to sign papers and pay. From now on, I will only use Fighting Chance to buy my cars. I hate that whole car salesperson scenario. It is such a waste of time and is also very aggrevating. Good luck!
If you go to the stealership and buy something the same day then you probably made a bad deal. If the sales manager isn't fed up with you, you are probably not getting the best price. If your salesman is still negotiating with you, you don't have your best price yet. You know you've got the best price of that particular day when the sales manager is ready to beat the crap out of you and the salesman hands you his card and says to call him again if he can help. Deals at the dealerships change daily and the best deals are to be had at the end of the month/fiscal year/model year. the stealerships are always interested in "moving a unit" provided it is already on the lot. If you want something very particular, you will never get the best price because the vehicle is probably somewhere else. decide on the vehicle you want, locate it, go to that dealership and be prepared to make a full day of it. Btw if you need a vehicle, that is the worst time to buy. Only buy when you can afford to walk out at any time.

I think taking a loud byyching wife and a couple of 3-4 yearolds that are whining and crying is also helpful. borrow some if you don't have any. make sure they have a handful of ice cream when they hit the door. bwahahahahhahaha! makes me think back on some good times I have had "dealing." I did go to 10 dealers till I found one that wanted to dance. same truck available at all. bought for 19 (plain jane XE). highest price was $24 I think. I'm sure many have done better in late '04 and '05.

I used the Fighting Chance fax attack method when I bought my 350Z. It paid off. I got a phone call from the sales manager at a dealer about 150 miles away from me. He had a Daytona Blue Track that he couldn't move and I got it for $1,500 below invoice. (This is back when the dealers in the major cities wouldn't move off MSRP for new Z's.) It was a bit more work than just walking into a dealership, but saving thousands makes it all worthwhile. (My 2 cents...)
Pick out the truck you want, have the salesperson write up a "purchase order" that will contain all the vital information on that vehicle, take the purchase order to your bank's Loan Officer and they will pull up the information on what that peticular vehicle cost the dealer and they will also give you a window of what you should pay. Take that info back to the salesclown and stand your ground....Remember, salesmen have been thoroughly schooled on screwing you royally while making you think their your friend, and some are masters at it.

Yeah, I didn't like to fight when I was a kid. Mainly because it was always that one guy and his four friends that wanted to kick my butt all at the same time.
www.fightingchance.com is the only way to go on a new vehicle. the dealers fall all over themselves to sell you a vehicle. back in early 04, before any rebates and before they were selling as well, i got my SE CC for 350 under invoice....anybody that bought one at that time will tell you that is darn good....best of luck and let us know how you do...
