Took Titan To Canada!!!!!!!!!

I just returned from a week long goose hunt in Saskatchewan Canada. My 3 friends and I left last Saturday and drove a straight 20 hours in my baby, to reach our destination. We left from Salt Lake City. We put 3745 miles on the truck during this trip, all of which, we were towing a 5000 lb. trailer and the truck had the shell in place with a bed full of stuff. The Titan was driven no less than 300 miles a day while up there and that was mostly on dirt roads scouting geese. The truck was PERFECT the entire trip! I changed the engine oil and rear diff fluid prior to the trip, and they put on the new brakes, which are great, but nothing else. I did see two Titans while in Saskatchewan, both had billet grilles and one was red, the other was white. My friends, one who drives a chevy silverado, and another who drives a dodge v10 were very impressed with the power and the ride quality, and couldn't stop raving! I took some pics of the Titan with the trailer loaded down, and will post asap. There were no issues with hill climbing what so ever, she took them like a champ! We averaged about 11 mpg towing the trailer and we were traveling an average of 85 mph. Damn, gas is pricey!

Just thought I would share a GOOD experience, since we don't too often see them!

That is a great story and am very glad everything went well. In reference to the statement above, it's strange how society thinks. We expect things too always go good and usually only complain when things go bad. It has been stated many times how good our Titans really are. We just tend to hear and focus on those times when things go bad. I too have a great Titan with very little problems.

Thanks for the "feel good" story!

The hunting was phenomenal!!! In six hunts, we limited 4 on dark geese, and had several light geese. We killed 222 geese in 6 days, and most of the days we finished by 8 A.M. We hunted with some locals a couple of days, what a hoot! Great guys!

You killed 222 geese!! What was the purpose of that?
That doesn't sound like hunting, that sounds like slaughter.

Uh, he said he was hunting with three of his friends and some locals for six days. I don't think he was saying that he alone killed that many.
Geese are way over populated, the seasons and limits are very liberal to keep their numbers in check. Have you gone out on the golf course lately?

Glad to hear you had a great trip and your truck performed so well.
I'd like to point out something nobody thinks of but was brought to my attention by my insurance company (agent). He said you must notify your carrier if you take the vehicle out of the country(Canada). He also told me if the truck goes to Mexico I'm on my own, Canada would be fine, Mexico was an absolute NEVER. I'd hate to be involved in a crash to find out later that it wasn't covered. Just bringing this to your attention....

I realize it was not one person that killed all those geese, but I still fail to understand how anyone could call that hunting. If it was an organized kill to handle over poulation, that would be someting other than sport. Hopefully the geese were used or donated to a food pantry and not left to die. Yes, I am aware of the overpoulation and live next to a protected wetlands. I watch dozens of Canada Geese fly over every day.

I wouldn't get caught up in semantics. Who cares whether he calls it hunting, killing, murder etc. He likes it, its legal and its fun!! what more could a person ask for. My brother and I fly our plane to Montana several times a year to kill prairie dogs. We just go to have fun, we don't give it a name such a hunting etc. We usually get at least a couple hundred a day and all they are scavenger food. I spent over 20 years tracking down two legged critters, they are the most fun. the best thing about that is there the season is open all year and there is rarely any size or bag limits. If you screw up two legged critters can fight back although I always tried to bushwhack "em" ,
I hate a fair fight.

I have a hard time believing your mpg stats (11 mpg average travelling at an average speed of 85 mph) I recently went on a 3,700 km trip to Jasper, Banff and Waterton National parks in Alberta pulling a 5,500 lb travel trailer at an average speed of 65 mph and I averaged 13.1 mpg (that's measured using Canadian gallon which is larger than the American gallon) which would equate to around 11 mpg (American)
So is your mpg measured using the Canadian or American gallon ???

Thanks for all the concern! In answer to the questions and comments: I made sure to check with the insurance company, and you are right, that is a definate MUST!!! The hunting was totally fair, we scouted fields for birds, set out decoys, called a little, and we helped the farmers with their bird problems. The mileage was measured in American MPG, truck just turned 8400 miles with this trip. All the birds that we took, we kept our legal limits to bring back with us and the others were donated to the indian tribes up there. They use every scrap of those birds and they are very happy to get them. Nothing was wasted, and all involved were very happy. And, thanks for noticing that Sunday was my birthday! Lovin' the truck and its abilities!!!

Because killing 222 tree-huggers is against the law. Just as fun, but still not widely accepted.
