3. With 13.0K miles, the brakes are working great. Firm pedal & solid braking
under all conditions. When vehicle was new, brakes felt soft & spongy.
This is a vast improvement. I'm thinking..ain't broke-leave it alone.
4. Received letter from Nissan extending brake warranty to 30K miles.
Good to know they're all over this problem.
5. Dillema is.......the temp fix is working very well.
After reading some of the mixed results of the permanent fix........I'm
leaning towards staying with the temp fix.
I agree with BEST. If you think that the temp fix feels good, wait til you get the final fix. Mine felt like they put NEW brakes on my Titan. It seems to stop much quicker than it did w/ the temp fix and the brake pedal is firm.
To sum it up...when they call and say the parts are in, floor it and get there as fast as you can. You won't regret it.

How can I tell looking at my 05 if I will need to get the fix or not??
I could not tell if my 05 had the old brakes until someone told me to see if I have a lot of brake dust. I have tons of it even a couple days after I wash it, so I believe I have the old brakes. Does anyone know if you can just go to the dealership and tell them that you want the permanent fix without have the judder? I only have 500 miles on my truck but I would feel much better if I knew I had the newer permanent fix.
I'm at 8500 miles, I first had the judder at 3500, they did the temp fix along with the free oil change. Its just now coming back to judder after about 4500 miles, so now they're putting in the permanent fix....
I've been very happy with the service they've given me, and love this awesome truck...

Most likely not, unless your dealer is willing to do it. From what I have heard, you actually have to have the judder to get the fix done. This is one of the reasons that Nissan extended the warranty on the brakes.

It's real easy to tell if you have the new brakes. If you have loads of brake dust?....you have the old brakes. The new ones are amazing in that they leave almost NO brake dust at all! You'd know the difference.

Hello to All,
Thanks for your advice on doing the permanent brake fix.
Had it done on Monday of this week & must admit the difference in braking is significant. The dealer was very accomodating and helpful in obtaining the permanent fix kit.
Brake pedal is much firmer (no softness) and the braking is very smooth and positive.
The temp fix was ok, but the permanent is miles ahead. Satisfied with results, so far. Will report in future of any adverse braking characteristics, although I don't think it will happen.
Bottom line....without question, have the permanent fix done as soon as judder begins during braking.
Also, got a letter from Nissan extending the brake warranty to 36K miles.
