I'll initiate it then. THe question is-Will there be enough willing bodies to warrant a group buy?

We'll see....

I don't understand what the problem is. You want a group buy here are the easy steps to follow see pictures for clarification)
1. Call/email the supporting vendors first.
2. If there is no interest in step one, call around
3. If you can find a nonvendor to do a GB, PM ekool with the info
4. If ekool OKs it, go. If not your screwed. or
5. Get over it or enjoy the group buy or

End of F-ing list!

Step three is what the vendors pay for. The chance to step up if another non vendor makes an offer to do a GB. Also, this gives ekool the chance to maybe get the other new non vendor who is willing to do a GB to maybe become a supporting vendor. Business............got to love it!!!!!!!!!!1

Why not try this.....If someone somehow finds a product that can be had at a good group price, and it's NOT a supporting vendor, why not then contact the supporting vendors and tell them what you found and ask if they can match the deal.
We NEED our supporting vendors, and I highly doubt they'd turn down a legitimate group buy. If and item ends up costing $10-$20 more but you can keep using this site for free....sobeit! Just my opinion.

Wow, what a post, there is a lot of repressed anger in our Titan community. Does anyone suffer from roadrage? Note to our mods and super mods, ya'll are doing a great job; the rules are easy to follow but not if your predisposed to arguing and stiring the pot.

Thats not what he said.

He said that non supporting vendor group buys could happen with approval. Nowhere did he ever say that if you didnt like the price a supporting vendor gave you for a group buy you could run off and use a non supporting vendor.

What that pretty much covers is group buys for stuff like tshirts, stickers, coffee mugs, etc. Stuff that our other vendors don't carry and aren't going to be offended by a group buy for said items.

And I still refuse to believe that in the 12 hours you guys had to move the group buy to a supporting vendor you actually contacted everyone before deciding on a non supporting vendor. I'd be willing to bet that in no more than an hour on the phone I could have set this group buy up. I dont think anyone even put forth the effort.

Hmm...interesting. I guess in my years utilizing forums I have never run across a dilemma where you are only allowed to run group buys or purchase from supporting vendors. Now, like I said, I understand the importance of supporting vendors...sure they give you money, helps you pay to run your site...but hey guess what WE are the reason you have a site. What are you going to do when users on here find out that there are better deals other than your supporting vendors (who, believe it or not don't always care to match other places), and then just decide not to come here anymore? Then as you lose users, you lose vendors..they aren't going to pay you just to pay you. Yea I get it, you have rules yada yada...well, maybe there needs to be some sort of agreement with your supporting vendors that if they can't match a deal that users are interested in, you reserve the right to allow it on here. If this site is devoted to Titan owners, then there should be a freedom of exhausting every corner of the market that offers Titan products. Thats why we are here...for our Titan. And I know how it works...you guys most likely get discounts from your vendors so you stand to gain from this in more than one way...but we don't. Please don't get me wrong, you do a great job with this site, and I enjoy it and the people on here....but please don't become one of the sites that becomes to cool for the masses.

Simple as that.
Are you referring to the Banks or the B&B...I think a few of us on here were only referring to the B&B and it's thread

One last thing..on a similar note. I went through and looked at a bunch of different posts (not worth it to post all of them), and I noted how there were alot of "mentions" as to other places that guys have purchased Titan products. How does that fall into the TT rules? I mean, you are mentioning another place other than a supporting vendor that you purchased something. Will that get banned? Just to clarify so I don't get booted for that.

I was just wondering...

Are there any folks from DODGE, FORD, or GM forums reading and laughing at this post? I'm not understanding the difficulty in understanding the rules here. If you get stopped for doing 70 in a 55 zone ....do you then argue with the police officer about how the limit SHOULD be 70 and not 55?...No. Same applys here. Although I do understand the points of those who seems a bit peeved about the rule, I think all this back and forth banter (we'll call it bargaining...lol) should be done with a little more maturity and dignity...in PMs.

Hey, we do???? I've been gyped!!!!!!

No Marc, I can truthfully say that I don't know of one moderator who has gotten a "special" rate from a supporting vendor just because we are mods on TitanTalk. We pay what you pay (or at least I have, damn it!!!!!)

We get nothing special out of being the "Volunteers" that try and keep this site running smoothly and help fellow Titan enthusiasts pursue their passion. Not always successful as you can see, but what the hey, people are people, ain't they now?

undoubtedly, many of those on this forum are long term internet types. to that point, they have been members of many different forums, and seen many different approaches to this very issue...

how does a site balance the needs of members, to those of keeping the site running, ie paying the bills?

i am all for those running the site not only meeting the costs of the site, but making whatever amount of money is fair market value. believe me, i don't expect anyone to run a charity opperation.

ultimately what attracts sponsors/supporting vendors, as i understand it, is potential consumers. having the largest, active membership in a given niche, in this case titan trucks, almost guarantees this.... => this site is the biggest, best site for this niche, period. maintaining that would seem the key to keeping sponsors long term, and not just the current ones, but adding more.

i just hope in an attempt to please vendors, bent out of shape over group buys, the site doesn't alienate active users. the type who organize group buys, are active in the forum, turned off by overhanded controlling of goings on, and ultimately make forum based websites what they are. same goes with liberal "banning"... this site isn't anywhere near that point, it is just that some of the absolutest overtones in this thread are a bit concerning...

i hope a little open discussion on the issue, almost a certainty considering the lack of a "feedback" section, isn't too threatening to the admins/mods/owners here. the site site is too good, to well run, and too successful to be against patiently helping some of us understand the policy... after all, a moderator was actively involved in the AFE group buy, so i'm sure there aren't just a few of us confused on the issue. and please don't think i am saying anything negative about him, based on what i have read and observed he is a standout moderator.

the rules on group buys seem reasonable at face value to me, not that it matters, but i hope that the afe group buy could have been allowed, and not deleted, had the proper procedures been followed...

that is my peace, and i have no intentions to argue with anyone on the matter or post further in this thread. just a little concern/confusion from an active user.
