Exclamation Afe & Oil Pressure Gauge

Has anybody that installed the AFE intake notice their oil pressure gauge rising with acceleration ? This was discussed in a thread a while back ,and was found to be normal for the needle to almost be pinned if you stomped on the gas during the first couple of minutes of driving after a cold start. The needle will then settle at the mid point after warm up and not really move much anymore. After installing the AFE stage II kit i notice the oil pressure needle rising to the 3/4 mark at about 3000 rpm and a little higher at about 3200-3600 rpm ,even after extended driving ( 15-20 mins ). Just wondering if anybody else noticed this , and if i should be concerned. Thanks...

my truck does this without the afe. i dont think you have anything to worry about. just normal oil pressure. i would be worried if i had low oil pressure.

Yea that means your engine has good oil pressure. It should rise as rpm's rise, minimum 10psi per 1000 rpm. Guage can be pegged when cold because the oil is resisting being pumped, hence pressure rises. The titan's oil pressure guage appears to be mechanical as it reacts instantly, toyota's typically use electronic guages which are slow to react. Just avoid pegging the guage as this means oil is possible not getting to where it needs to, also you could possibly blow the seals out with too much pressure.

Yeah, mine has always done this. No noticable difference after installing the AFE....I wouldn't worry about it.

Mine does it too before I installed my intake (AEM). Nothing to worry about.
