I picked up (no pun intended) the Nov-December issue of TruckTrend Magazine with an article of "Half Ton Shootout" for the best pickup in America. They tested 4 door models and as tested prices:
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with 5.3 Liter V8, OHV-2 valves/cyl $31,965
Dodge Ram 1500 with 5.7 Hemi engine, OHV-2 valves/cyl $36,750
Ford F-150 with 5.4 Liter engine, SOHC-3 valves/cyl $37,935
Nissan Titan with the 5.6 Liter DOHC-4 valves/cyl $29,810
Toyota Tundra with the 4.7 Liter DOHC-4 valves/cyl VVT $32,464
TruckTrend tested these categories:
1. Engine and transmission
2. Brake/steer/chassis
3. Ride and handling (empty)
4. Ride and handling (loaded)
5. Visibility
6. Cab utility
7. Bed/tow utility
8. Cabin comfort
9. Fit and finish
10. Perceived value.
Seriously! The winner didn't even make it to the cover. I guess we can call it a sleeper. Besides, no one wants to buy a mag in which there truck gets spanked!

Hey,what were the acceleration numbers-0-60 and 1/4 mile? The link won't show the article.Earlier a poster said the Tundra beat the Titan 0-50 and was just .1 slower in 1/4 mile.
Thanks.Charlie Just the Titan and Tundra is ok with me-I know the Titan beats the Chevy and Ford-easily.
They put the Big 3 on the cover, but the top two rated didn't make it. I think they thought if they put the winner on the cover, the domestic guys wouldn't buy the mag. This might actually be a good thing.

The guy who said that is a TROLL and has no clue what he is talking about, I wouldn't worry about it. The Tundra is not nearly as fast as the Titan.

An ignorant, clueless Troll at that.

I think they should have left out the visibility and perceived value catagorys. I'd be curious what the numbers would be without those.

Surprisingly for an engine almost a full liter smaller at 4.7L, the Tundra is really faster by 0.1 sec on the 0-50mph sprint but 0.1 slower than the Titan in the quarter. Here's all the details of the "shoot-out"
Speaking of competition, I've been seeing and hearing these Toyota commercials that say the "Tundra has a bigger payload than F-150 & Titan". Has anyone seen one of these "heavy duty Tundras" or have any knowledge of this?? When did this start?
