Went shopping for tires, ended up with a Maxima

Went out looking for some tires for the Titan. Wanted BFG TA/KO's. Ended up with a 06 Maxima. It's sweet man. Really like it alot.

By the way got the tires too. The Max is the GF's. What you thought I'd get rid of the Titan? Shame on you!

the Maxima's are cool. I've got an Altima w/ the 4 banger, it's really slow but my wife thinks it's fast and it gets really good gas mileage.
It's got the 3.5 right? I don't know if there is another engine available..

3.5 SE, Liquid Silver.

The tires for the Titan, BFG TA/KO (stock size) are nice, but expensive......

Needless to say I spent so much money today that I am not out having fun on Saturday night.

But thats OK, it's worth it.

Did you order them? They are really hard to find right now. I just got mine but it was a pain in the butt. They ordered them from 3 different states!

And I thought I was the only one who did stuff like that Take the wifes car in for an oil change, and leave in a new pathfinder. Boy was she hot under the collar when I did that! . Since then I bought her a Maxima and I sold the Pathfinder to my sister, so that I could buy the Titan.

Heres some pics of the tires and the new Max.

vw1972bugs, no I didn't order them. Tire Kingdom had 22 in the warehouse. 3 other places I went to said they were on national backorder. Don't know wether to get the spare swapped out too or not. The spare is a brand new stock Goodyear, same size.

They are nice. I was looking at them and they made the short list when I finally picked the G35. I liked the Gs suspension, interior, and the fact it was RWD, but I liked the exterior (sans grill), and size of the Maxima more.

PS Tint that monkey already!

I tell you what, the Max has more room in the front seat, back seat and trunk than the X did in all 3 places. It is obviously way faster, quicker, more powerfull and gets 20-28 mpg. The X got 17-21/22.

By the way the BFG's are stock size, 285-65-18. I have a non "offroad package" 04 SE 4x4. If anyone is interested in these tires keep this in mind,....
they are not easy to get and the "KO" means they will KO your wallet.
Tires, mounting, balancing, alignment, and tax came to..... gulp.....$1,384.00
On the other hand I could have got the same Goodyear SR/A's that came on the truck from the dealer for 165.00 per tire installed. But I didn't want to do that cause the GY's were below half tread remaining at 15K (14,800) miles.

Much- 6.8 0-60 quicker than Titan

According to Consumer Reports it is much quicker 6.8 0-60 vs 7.3 than out Titan.CR loves the Maxima;they give it their new"super duper" rating-the check with a circle around it(not just recommended like our Titan). To get the super duper rating it has to be above average in everything, and above average in crash testing.
They also got 5 mpg better city and 14 mpg better hy-relative to the Titan.
I know that a lot of you folks dismiss CR as "not real car-truck people-toaster testers",but they don't get the ringers that all the other magazines get. They buy the cars they test,so they aren't specially prepped the way magazine "loaners" are.
Their Cit loop" is extremely rough-Titan gets 9 mpg-Maxima gets 14 mpg".However the Honda 4 cyl auto gets just 16 mpg.In real life most folks get 22 mpg in the city with an Accord.Fair chance you will get about 20 mpg city with the MAXIMA.CR's hy mpg is dead on for me-Maxima get 32 mpg for CR-you will get the same.
It is a great car.I wish I had the $$ to trade my Chevy Prizm(corolla knockoff-all Toyota parts, same assembly line as Corolla). It is very reliable-good mpg-but a really boring car.
Luck,Charlie

Its not my foot is just heavier than my wifes. Thats why I don't drive the maxima that often. My last ticket cost me $260 with traffic school.

flfinfan,

Are those exactly stock, or are they .8 taller and a bit wider. I was at Big-O the other day & I believe they were talking about the tires on your truck.

They look sweet. How about a full side view pic?

CR doesn' know their butts from a tailgate. I have seen plenty of their mags covering cars and laughed every time. Their people are clueless when rating and rate useless stuff like number of cupholders rather than quality of transmission, etc. They also typically get the base model rather than the top of the line, so for example they rate the mustang with a V6 instead of the 300+hp V8 and then say how slow it is. Car and Driver rates the PF as 0-60 in 7.5. That's about right since its only a 4.0 V6.
