Gear question

Hey guys, when i take off my titan cc seem sluggish and i was wondering if i have some type of traction control and if so how can i bypass it. Second question what type of gears do i have and what type of gears are avaliable from the factory for nissan. Im looking to start moding my vehicle and gears is going to be my first modification. Just curious.

Re: Gear question

Unless you have Big Tow (VDC), then you don't have any type of traction control. If you have a later model '04 with the off-road package, then you might have the e-locker (unrelated to your issue.) Your rear end ratio is 2.937 or 3.357 with BT or OR. No aftermarket gearsets are available yet, and you can't get them from the factory unless you replace the whole rear end.

Re: Gear question

I understand the ECU doesn't allow full throttle from a standstill either. It's not until your moving that the ECU allows actual full throttle. I personally don't feel it but others claim this to be the case.

Re: Gear question

VDC is the only thing that you can do anything about. It also has some sort of a torque management system that saves wear and tear. Rule of thumb is to give it about 75% off the line and then stomp it.

Re: Gear question

I dont have big tow but when you say torque managment is there a way to override this because im losing my race at the take off. I mean with 380lbs of torque this system is handicapping me. But thanks guys for the information i might go with the 3.357's. Any program out there to overide that torque killer. With 380 lbs of torque on a 5000lbs vehicle i should be able to smoke them till they fall off. Would you guys who remember what 380lbs of torque agree? Also headers, are they worth the money, I look at my engine and i see some serious work involved when putting them bad boys on.

Hey crawdad what part of louisiana are you from? I have the offroad package, and no vdc, and my truck will smoke the tires fairly easy. If I want to take off fast I have to really try to not spin the tires. Don't know about the headers, but I wouldn't expect much.

Re: Gear question

There is a thread involving a mod entailing cutting certain wires located under the hood, installing a switch. If I recall correctly, this enabled profuse smoking of one of the rear tires. Being not particularly interested in burning the tread off my tires, I don't recall the details.

Near Alexandria, What is VDC is this an acroynm for traction control. Well my brother is opening a performance shop this summer so we are tinkering around with some ideas to tap into the performance side of it. He is buying a dyno machine so we will test it stock then add mods, i mean i know gears wont matter much and i figuring a 20 percent loss for the auto on my truck. Thanks for the input.

I live about 20 miles below Houma, or about an hour southwest of New Orleans. Vehicle Dynamic Control the switch is below the radio near the tow, a e-lock buttons.

LoL, no im not the buisness of burning the tread off my tires but i am in the buisness of truck performance with a crew cab. The nissan titan is not marketed correctly by Nissan, i mean here is a truck that can equal a hemi or even beat in most cases and their is hardly a whisper. Most comment i get is i never new nissan had a full size truck and this is after two years of having mine. Its time i start tapping into 380lbs of torgue and 305 hp. I want to beat my friends rumble bee and my other friends chevy ss with ease and i willing to put my money where my mouth is. I just dont see the mods that are available for other vehicles. Thanks for your input.

See what im worried about is i dont have the switch in my vehicle to cut it off. I mean im not 100 percent sure i have VDC but i do know that my take off is pitiful feels like the engine is purposely losing power then after that it lauches like a rocket. Something is not right IMHO.

If you don't have the switch than you don't have VDC. Not sure why it doesn't take off good, mine feels like it has all available power right from the takeoff.

Morgan city is about an 45 minutes west of me, and golden meadow is about 30 minutes away. In a staight line golden meadow is only about 10 miles from me. Airlog (the company I work for) just built a big base just before golden meadow.

Re: Gear question

Then the problem is likely my gears the 2.90"s i might put in the 3.35's i think that will take care of that. Being i dont have traction control, then its either gears and the tall tires. Are all titans positive traction.
