New to this site. Seems like the people involved in it's set up did a great job.
I am considering buying a new truck. I am looking at the F-150's, Sierra 1500's and the Titan SE. All are 4x4's w/extended cabs. I have been trying to price them the same but the Titan has alot more to offer than the other two I am looking at. So this is why I am leaning towards the Tiatn.
But after reviewing several website forums (inclusive of this one), the "issues" that this truck has had or has makes me alittle concerned. I understand that all vehicles have their problems and that each one can be different within a model. First question, any known problems, issues, etc with the 2006 models as of yet?
Taking options out of the mix, would you guys buy another Titan again knowing what you know now? Take into consideration any problems you might have had, worries, gas mileage (how bad is it really when compared to other trucks), etc....
I would just hate to buy a new vehicle knowing that it has issues and then have to have it in the shop all of the time. Been there down that with my wifes previous auto, a 96 Bonneville.
Thanks. Any suggestions, recommendations, etc. would be helpful.
I would still buy the Titan, I have an 05 since March and have had no problems yet, I have a sqeek or two in the dash but thats it. Gas miliage is similiar to other full size trucks probally better then the Guzzling Hemi, If you get Big Tow or Off Road Package you will lose a mile or so per gallon because of the lower gearing with those options.

You will find "issues" on any site. The amout of "issues" is minimal in number and seriousness compared to the big 3. The "issues" mainly plagued the '04s. As long as you aren't buying an '04 used, you shouldn't have any, as Nissan has stepped up and corrected them. As for gas mileage, its within a mile or so of other 1500 class trucks. At worst, you'd get maybe 1 mpg difference from one to another, and I couldn't tell you if the Titan would be better or worse.
I have an '05 Armada, which from the frontseat forward is identical, and I've only had to have the new rotors put on under warranty and a squeaky driver's seat, because of my large assets, which Nissan replaced, again for free. Bottomline, if I had to do it over again, and had a $10k discount on any other truck, I'd still go Nissan again.
I've had major issues (brake judder and rear differential failure) and I would still buy this truck again hands down. We drove them all, 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton. This was my favorite, it is actually enjoyable to drive. Sure I didn't like having it in the shop a few days, but it's well worth it when you get back behind the wheel.
I don't believe there are any known problems with '06s but I wouldn't expect your truck to be trouble-free.

I would definetly buy again right now, because to this day the titan is still the truck that best suites my needs. It is the perfect truck for me right now.
I just got my Titan yesterday. I drove all of the other trucks, F-250, Ram, Tundra, and Silverado. The Titan jsut has more fetures. But I would drive em all and see for your self, as everyones taists are different. That is why there are so many different choices. Plus, shopping cars is a hell of a lot of fun, at least for me.
I liked the looks of the '06 Titan so much that I couldn't have possibly gone with anything else. And with the praise Nissan has received it was a no brainer. The ONLY negative criticism I have of my Titan is the interior knobs and handles just seem a little "cheap" and flimsy. I am just being super picky and as objective as I can be; but who gives a crap in the overall picture. I love my Titan sooo much I can barely bring myself to drive my commuter car at all anymore! Hope this helps.
Thanks for such quick replys. Last December I drove a 05 Titan King Cab 4x4 with the bench seat. At the time, the dealer did not want to help me out with my trade. Several days later he did, but too late. Christmas came and I had lost the urge to shop for a truck. I am going to be test driving a 06 King Cab 4x4 tomorrow. This truck has the captains chairs. How are they for comfort? I thought the bench seat was comfy. The truck I actually want is in Mass, but before I buy it (have to put down a non refundable deposit) I wanted to test drive something local that had the captains seats. How is the stereo system? This truck comes with the standard 6 CD player. Good sound? Any idea on how many speakers?
As recommended, I did test drive two 06 Seirra 1500 (One had the SLE1 and the other had the SLE2 Packages) 4x4's. One had a bench (SLE1), one had bucket seats (SLE2). The bench seat was more comfortable than their bucket seat. The truck was nice. People have made comments about GMC fit and finish. I think the people who write these articles just change the builders name. The reviews about fit and finish seem word for word as the Titan fit and finish. The GMC looked okay, felt fine. Yeah, maybe alittle outdated but fine. I have no interest in test driving the Dodge. Maybe I will try a Ford next week. Just to compare and make a fair judgement. To be honest, my first choice since it was introduced has been the Titan.
The 05 Titan I test drove a while ago looked fine. The only problem with the Titan I had was the shifter lever (I am not an auto guy for lack of a better term). Placement of that was not that good. But then again, GMC's wasn't much better on it's placement. As for cheap materials, who knows, who cares. Every vehicle has it's issues. And everyone has their opinions, good or bad.
I will let you guys know how I make out with the 06 Titan. I appreciate all of the candor. Thanks once again.
Other than the brake issue (I knew before I bought the truck) my truck is flawless. Brakes were fixed in June 05 and still perfect 10,000 miles later. Yes there people on these boards that vocalize their issues but most everyone would still choose the Titan if they were out looking to buy a truck again. If you buy it you will NOT be disappointed. Thanks for coming here for advice, good luck with your decision.

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.
I bought my titan as a fun vehicle, and I have a construction company, and own a 2001 25000hd, and recently owned a ford f150 as well. The gas mileage in the Titan is worse then both of these other vehicles.
I like the way the Titan drives, but I think the interior to the eyes looks nicer then the Chevy's... but much of the finish when you actually put your hands on it feels cheaper to me, then the new chevy's and the new ford f150s. I hate fords though. I like the transmission better on the Titan, the five speed is smoother then the standard 4 that comes on a chevy.
For the same price I could have purchased a chevy silverado z71, LT1 Ext cab though. I like my Titan better so far, just from a looks standpoint.
Oh yeah, I think the stock Titan Neoprene feeling cloth on the SE feels cheap to me.
I've had two Titan an 04 SE KC and an 05 SE KC Texas Titan , the later had some cosmetic improvements. Really happy with it. Runs really good. My Brother has an FX4 and he regrets not buying the Titan now. You'll be happy with it. Just make sure it can potentionally do what you intend for it to do. Good Luck.
Referring to the materials the seats are made out of. When I drove the 05, I didn't think the seats looked that bad. It was different than the "traditional" cloth style seating. There have been several postings regarding the "feel" of the material. That it feels like neoprene. I didn't know one's *** could tell the difference between leather, cloth, neoprene, etc. JUST KIDDING FOLKS!
Is it water/stain repellent material?
Oh, how is the road noise? I heard that the new Fords are pretty quiet. The two GMC's I drove where totally different. Same motors, tires and rims. The cheaper one was quieter than the more expensive one.
This is a great website. Alot of good information on it. Keep up the good work. Do not know if I will get out to test drive one today. It is raining up here.
Oh, you guys will get a kick out of this one. It must have been an omen.
Around here (Rhode Island) you will see the occasional Titan. My neighbor has one, but I only see him in the early morning when he heads out to work. Might pass one on the way to work only once a week or every other week. Anyhow, while I was out test driving the GMC's the other day, I passed no less than 3 Titans in 15 minutes. Then yesterday when I was going to the bank for the pre qualified auto loan, passed a crew cab Titan that was bright red. Stood out in the crowd of vehicles. Must be a sign.
