Changes for 06 Rear Diff

I've read a couple posts hinting at changes Nissan has made in the 06 rear end.

Anybody know any detailed info? Care to share?

What's New for 2006
...and a change to allow the stability control system to be ordered with the locking rear differential.

And from Nissan:

Final gear ratio (2.94); similar to a four-speed
automatic 3.73 ratio
Lower final gear ratio (3.357:1); similar to a four-speed
automatic 4.10:1 ratio

I'm not an expert, so I can't remember what the ratios were on 04-05's. I would think that since they made the change with stability control on the locking rear, there probably was at least some change.

Ratios appear to be the same. That doesn't mean there haven't been some improvements. I think VDC + Elocker could be all software.

2.94 and 3.36 ratios are unchanged.

And, as best suggests, the ability to order VDC w/E-Lock is all software.

I was thinking more along the lines of changes to the components inside the pumpkin, or even changes to metallurgical treatments for the same components?
