4 Nissan models 'least reliable' from Consumer Reports
Saw this in the local paper - I hate to see the negative publicity. IMO Consumer Reports is full of crap. In the past I've made large purchases based on their ratings and ended up with lemons.
Well, I gotta admit that my truck had a bunch of fit and finish issues when I first got it, but the dealer was able to fix all (after a TON of visits). I've NEVER questioned the reliability of it though. To me, reliability means it won't leave me on the side of the road, which I can imagine will never happen with my beast.

It was all of your opinions that mattered the most.
If you think about it........this forum is nothing more than an ownership specific Consumer Reports. We hear about the Titan from other consumers who have the truck. I value consumers opinions above anyone elses except my own personal experience. That is why I became a member of this site in the first place. It was all of your opinions that I valued the most. The problem here is that most of us are biased because we have a substantial amount of money, time, and energy invested in our beasts. There is not a perfect truck. But it was the Titan that I got excited about. I also don`t like hearing negative things said about my truck from others because it reflects poorly on the buying decision that I made. But it is that honesty that we all want to hear about when deciding to buy or not to buy.
I have purchased a $2000 Toshiba tv, $2000.00 Kenmore side by side, a 2001 Toyota Camry, dishwasher, computer, camcorder, telephones, microwaves etc. based on Consumer Reports. I have done VERY well with quality, reliability and longevity of such products. Certainly better than if I were left out there on my own to decide.
The surveys that they sent out have come in from mostly those people that owned the 2004 and early 2005 models. They did have alot of issues in my opinion. But to Nissan`s credit : they have addressed almost all of the issues. I`m sure we would all like to see them address the differential issues.
With that being said.......it is the comsumer of a product; whether it be in a magazine or on Titantalk, that I will be listening to first when I make my buying decisions.

When I looked at CR last month, it had the Titan as a best-pick...??
It's best 2005 "full-size truck", the Honda Ridgeline. Enuff said...next question...
It is to my understanding that the honda is a "full size" truck but did you notice that they compared the Honda ridgeline with all midsized trucks. It would have been at the bottom of the list had it been compared with full size trucks.

From what I've heard, they're having to cut production, again, on the Ridgalanchsclade too. It may be reliable, but you couldn't beat the ugly out of it with a stick! It's not selling!

We should have our mods send CR a Pitcher of Cool Aid on the house.
I agree with Helinut about this forum being a place for all Titan Owners to exchange opinions and information. Without that as the basis the forum would soon loose its charm and the traffic decrease thereby driving sponsors etc.
So pull up a chair and get some exercise:

Its strange that alot of the time domestic trucks are never attacked. I belive that our trucks are held to a higher standerd, which sometimes means they are more prone to attacks. When Joe Blow from 2 streets down gets a DWI no one cares, but if the govenor of your state were to get one, it would make national hedlines. just my 2 cents.

It's interesting that you may not see fault with something or someone that other people do. I think that we all have a relative we can't find fault with when everyone else can. Sorry to drag you into this mom but I'm trying to make a point. The point is that I really love my truck and I am willing to overlook it's bad points and focus on what I bought the truck for, the powertrain. I have only had minor problems so far and if the powertrain holds up I will continue to overlook the things I consider to be irritations rather than problems. If I wanted to nit pick the hell out of this truck I'm sure I could as with most other vehicles I've owned. Consumer reports does not warrant my attention and I don't consider a bunch of half wit consumers that subscribe to their dogma a reliable source of information. Out of the most intelligent people you know, how many subscribe to consummer reports and respond to their surveys? It's also a fact that people are far more likely to complain than say something good if given the opportunity. Put ten people in a room for a day and they may not pick a leader but you can bet they will pick someone to hate.

IMHO, CR is for people who don't want to get their hands dirty. The only true test of a product is to use it yourself and expierence first hand.

Sorry, but my personal definition of a pick-up truck requires a seperate bed. Uni-body vehicles like the Ridgeline or the Avalanche are just wannabe El Camino's.
I didn't intend for this to turn into a "Bash Consumer Reports" thread. I just wanted to share the article and state my opinion. I'm not a big fan of CR, as stated in my post, but some people do value what they have to say.
I found it interesting that the Titan did extremy well in the AutoPacific customer satisfaction survey, is the TruckTrend truck of the year, etc. Then CR comes out with this.
