I'm an owner of a '99 F-150 who's been pretty impressed with the Titan lately. It seems like a pretty good truck for the money, definately the most powerful. I'd like to get an SE King Cab, with the Popular package(bucket seats), and the Big Tow package. I probably can't afford a new one, but I wouldn't mind a 2004 or 2005 with a few thousand miles. I know that there's been some front brake issues, as we as some rear-end durability problems. I'd like to hear from some real Titan owners on what to look out for when I'm shopping around. Since this truck hasn't been on the road for long, there's not much in the way of reliability data around. Y'all have a great site here, and I hope to become a proud Titan driver in the not-too-distant future!
Wow f-150 to a Titan! Sure you can handle such a big jump?
1)Ask if the brake kit has been done
2)Look for a finned rear end cover
3)Carfax, Carfax, Carfax and by the way dont forget to do a carfax BEFORE you buy

If you can swing it buy an 05 so you eliminate many of the first year bugs that were corrected. My 05 other than the brakes (fixed and perfect) has ZERO flaws, squeeks or rattles. I'd buy another without hesitation. No go out there and buy it. Good luck in your search.

You have two choices in life:
You can stay single and be miserable,
or get married and wish you were dead.
Have you checked the prices on the new ones. I'm sure you could get a sweet deal on one, unless it doesn't matter that much.
If you decide on used, which is perfectly okay, shop around-be patient. Know that these trucks, like all others, have fallen in value (for several reasons), and you can get a really good deal. Shop around!!
I'm sure you've already test drove one...
As for problems, I have just under 19K on an 04' and other than the brake issue, it's been great-no problems!
Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

I have had a couple of the early 04 issues but still love it. Check the brake thing if its an 04 look at the rear diff if the paint has been burnt off could be a prob. (wrong type of lube) and prob avoid anything with an E- locker. Other than that get the one you like and hammer down.
I have had my 05 Titan SE 4X4 w/ pop package(capt chairs) and the utility bed package since August and I love it. It has about 1,000 miles on it. I had a couple of very minor problems but I have not had the brake problem yet. I know I have the old undersized brakes but I also know that Nissan will fix them when the judder starts. I would definitley buy this truck again. This is coming from a person who had a 98 F150, a 2000 Toyota Tundra, and a 99 Toyota Tacoma. Good luck in your search.
If you're going the "pre-owned" route, watch out for the flooded ones from Louisiana. The brake judder deal has a 3 yr unlimited mileage warranty from Nissan so don't let that scare you away. The rear pumpkin should still be under warranty so if you get one that still has the steel cover, wait until the paint peels, then take it to the dealer for warranty repair. They will replace with a new aluminum finned cover. Problem with the radio in FM mode, there's a TSB out. Problem with master window switches, there's a TSB out also. AC not cold at idle, there's a TSB also. Most of the issues that have been raised here, if not all, have or are being addressed by Nissan. The latest recall, I believe, is the towing sub-harness, also covered by Nissan.
Love my '04 LE CC, no major problems (had radio, master window switch, rear cover, AC, low pressure tire sensor issues but were taken care of by dealer under warranty). Will be taking it back for the towing sub-harness recall work in a few weeks.

Some good points above. In my case, I have had my truck (2005) almost a year. Had brake judder fix and nothing else to complain about. Excellent truck! Good luck.

Bryan 1980-I drove a 1989 K1500 Chevy for the last 15 yrs. and made the jump to the Titan 3 months ago. My wife and I really enjoy our Titan. Mama would not drive the Silverado, but is very confident with the Titan's docile handling. Part of my decison was based on lurking around here for a while. There are some really good folks in this group. Most are a really great source of info. It sounds like you have spec'd a really nice Titan. Good luck with your truck.
Rick.
Thanks for all the info, guys! I've yet to drive one yet, and that's the problem. I'm sure once I drive it, I'll be hooked! I'm sort of backtracking right now, don't know if I want to part with my money yet. I may wait a little while longer, see if a good pre-owned 2005 model with all the stuff I want hits the market. I'm an F-150 man, I've owned three of them. I've driven a '04 F-150, and I was impressed with it. But it seems like you get more for the money with the Titan, especially if you compare the SE to the XLT. SE has capt. chairs and six-disc changer standard. I'd have to spend over $30K for an F-150 with all the options I want, compared to $28K for a comparable Titan. Just wish Nissan would get aggressive on the incentives. They had pretty bad sales last month, so they should do something.
My 150 has the 5.4L, so should I expect about the same fuel economy with a Titan? They look close on paper.

Should be about the same and it depends on how you drive the Titan when you get it. If you are like most of the guys here when you buy it you wont keep the pedal off the floor and your gas milage will be worse. If you are conservitave then it will be about the same. I will say you will have ALOT of extra power in reserve if you are easy on it!

Mine is a late 04 and since the brake fix and a rear end problem(which was all taken care of promptly and completely) has been great. Love it, Wouldn't trade it for anything, except a 1 ton version of the TItan
