'05' brake judder

I bought my '05' CC, BT, 4X4, SE in Sept '05' it had a build date of 7/05. I definately had the new rotors on it, but was getting a ton of brake dust on the wheels after even 25 miles driving. I called my selling dealer and said "I know I have the new rotors but dont think the brake pads were upgraded because of the rediculous amount of dust", he said "well you will get brake dust with any brake pad" (DUH)! Then after about 1800 miles on the truck, I got the "JUDDER" with the new rotors. I called another local dealer who gave me the entire brake fix, new (again) front rotors, turned rears, and new brake pads front and rear, and also some sort of bolt in the calipers. It seems the old brake pads caused the NEW rotors to to warp, the dealer confirmed that I did already have the new rotors and they were in fact warped. But I am happy to say that after getting the new pads I have put about 400 miles (2 weeks of driving) and near zero brake dust!! Hopefully it was the old pad that caused the warping and these new ones will be money!

Moral to the story.......None. Thanks for listening

thanks for your informative post. i was also getting tons of brake dust and inquired about this to the dealership. he "said" i had the "new-style brake pads" but i have a hard time believing my service advisor because the entire service department, including him, is incompetent.

at around 4000 miles, i am now having brake judder. *sigh* what a pain in the butt. so, now i'm not sure if i have the entire new brake kit or just the rotors with the old style brake pads. he specifically said i had the "new style brake pads" but maybe he meant the new style brake kit.

I would definately take it in for the judder, when you do that they will do the entire fix (even if you have the new rotors) which does include the new pads front and rear, and that is what you want. It's amazing that after all Nissan went through with engineering a fix for the warped rotors it might have been as simple as changing the pads?

If they did all that, including the new front caliper bolts, then you didn't have the new rotors. The longer bolts are needed for proper fitment of the new rotors. If they were'nt there, the new rotors wouldn't have fit. Glad you got em' replaced. Watch now...NO BRAKE DUST!

Had 7,200 when it just slightly started showing up. But I was all over my service manager about this when I purchased mine in Mar 05. Asked me to wait and give them time to get parts finalized and in stock. So when I called and made a apointment for the sub harness and a trim piece the brake issue was a non issue. So far so good for me. But others that really work their trucks hard are still showing issues. I've fought this on the wifes caravan and put on cross drilled and really nice pads, but judder was gone. Down side, no one around here would turn them when I needed new pads. Make nice to your service manager!
