Well the truck is finally gone. Turned it back in to Nissan with just iver 50k on the odometer. Seven sets of brakes was just to many. I enjoyed the truck except for the brakes and enjoyed the info I got from these boards.

Well this is certainly bad news.. obviously the "permanent-fix" brake kit is no good in the long run. Good thing Nissan extended the warranty to 3 years/unlimited mileage, I may have to do this also if I end up on 7 replacements!

Not really. Before I bought my truck I approached sales and service with the known brake issue and my concerns for a resolution. My question to the dealer was that if we get to the stage where the TSB and future TSB's on brakes do not resolve the problem, what will my options be?
Their focus is customer satisfaction and they do think outside the box to achieve customer satsifaction. Proposing a big brake option as a solution it would be something that they would entertain or help me pursue the buy back option. This dealer is exceptional. But what does one do with a less than perfect dealer relationship?
If you love the truck, I see no reason why not to look at the aftermarket to resolve a brake problem. For example, I did it with the GMC after numerous sets of OEM rotors and pads which constantly squealed and the final GM fix was using their "special" set of rotors and pads developed for brake squeal call backs. They consisted nothing more of a softer pad compound which performed as well as oiled rotors. The Stillen rotors and pads immediately resolved the problem on that vehicle.

I can't believe people are getting rid of their trucks because of brakes. My Silverado was horrible on brakes! The front and back brakes were way too small for those trucks and they are everywhere. My wife has 17,000 miles on her Titan and never had brake work done and we actual tow and haul with it. We'll probably take advantage of the warranty offer sooner or later but we would never get rid of our trucks- there's nothing on the road like them!
i cant believe that the newest brakes are not working....my new ones have been absolutely flawless and w/ less brake dust to top it off.
well, best of luck and let us know what you get in the TITANS place.
I had the new brakes put on and its been fine since, and I speed a lot of time pulling trailers and have a bad habit of braking at the last minute. I've got about 10K on the new ones and as goathead said, its been flawless. You're going to have brake trouble with almost any truck on the market, my plumber is on his ninth set in 67k on his F250. I know two 05 F150s with brake problems, and look at most running around, brake dust big time....not to mention tranny problems. I drove an 05 Silverado with 7k on it and the rotors were warped on it, and it hadn't towed anything.

Every full size truck owner I talk to complains about their brakes... Even with 'the fix' there still may be problems... just because one person has had theirs replaced 7 times doesn't mean the sky is falling.
I have been reading the posts almost everyday on this site since long before the brake fix came out and this is the first post I can remember with someone having a problem with it. With the microscope that the brakes are under, it would seem that it the 'fix' weren't working for everyone it would be posted up here constantly. I have 10K on my brakes since the fix and haven't had even a hint of a problem.
No offense intended to the poster but I don't know how it is even possible to go through 7 sets of brakes in 50K. At some point, driving habits or towing/hauling or some other factor has to at least be considered.
I had the new permanent brakes done and didn't notice any judder but did notice a lot less brake dust. New compound was told to me by service, to be more noisy with squealing and why it wasn't original used. My pathfinder surprisingly has a bit of squealing when first driving it after sitting, but goes away almost immediately. Guess the Pathy has these better pads.
I did have my brakes fail after the permanent brake fix though. Pedal was bouncing off of the floor after an emergency stop. This was unforgivable and went looking for another vehicle right after it happened. A few weeks later the rear end starting going out, and the Titan is no more. This was on top of other numerous problems I've had.
This was the 2nd worst new vehicle I've ever owned in my life. The Pathy is like heaven in comparison to 'my' old Titan. So I don't blame anyone for getting rid of the truck especially after 7 failed attempts to fix the brakes.
It got bought back by Nissan under Lemon Law. Got tired of replacing brakes.
When you say bought back, was this with depreciation added in or did they buy it back for all moneys you paid.
When I had Dodge buy back a vehicle years ago, they did before arbitration went through as a peace offering. They paid back every cent but did it strangely. They had the dealership call them and get a figure for the trade in. Then they cut me a voucher towards another Chrysler product for the remaining amount from what I actually paid, and what the dealer was giving me on trade. I really didn't lose any money on this car but it was only 7 months old.
I lost roughly $7000 on trading in my 2004 Titan with 22000 miles. I hope that with your solution, you came out better. I wish I would had legal help but my dealership is very good and fixed the Titan everytime it naggingly, needed another repair. While the repairs kept adding up, the brakes technically only had warped rotor 3 times where the 4th brake trouble was a complete failure. Never happened again before I got rid of it.
A funny note, the dodge section of the mall takes in the used trade ins and gets them ready for sale. I don't think they even made an attempt to repair the rear end on my Titan. Now I had a failing rear end and a brake failure that was never found or fixed, yet I seen the mall owner pulling a huge box trailer with my old Titan. With rear end problems and a possible brake failure, he was really taking a chance. The deal is that the dealership knew of these problems, but I guess, chose to ignore them. Hope no one gets hurt.

I agree, driver habit's are the reason for 7 replacements in 50k miles. However, he might not of got the latest fix. You could easily go through 7 sets of the old brakes.....mine needed replaced at 3k miles (for the first and last time). I have the new fix and there is no problems whatsoever. JMO
