super charger

anyone read on ct the problems the guy with the super charger is having stillen seems not to be standing behind there product , very scary you would think that after you spend six grand they would stand behind it. not good advertisement for them i would say. he seems to be having some serious issues and they want to blame it on installation. i was thinking of eventually getting this now dont think so. thought they were stand up company this really sucks

"Stealin' " isn't what it used to be. They were once a very well respected NISSAN tuner, now they tune anything and everything under the sun just to make a buck, and now suck at it.

I don't understand how it could be "installation error" when it is straight bolt up.

The one mistake he made was not paying $1000 for someone to install his $6000 supercharger, get the warranty, leave no opportunity for someone to say its "installer error" and put any problems in someone else's lap. Sorry, but it is very new and was developed on one titan Problems will come up with fitment as all are not perfectly identical. Off by 1/8" somewhere and you're screwed. If I were him, I'd find a Stillen qualified installer, have them troubleshoot the install and get the warranty and problems fixed. Stillen can then take the info and apply it to the kit.

I have to agree, if you have $6k to drop on a SC, spend another $1k to have it installed/tuned/warranteed. If your going to do it, do it right!

Personally I would NOT haveit installed by a Stillen-authorized dealer either. One of my best friends is a mechanic, I know he would take more care installing it than anyone else (not to mention he has installed many roots-style supercharger kits, and would allow me to help as well). If Stillen tried to argue "installation error" on me I would be pissed as well. Now if it truely was an installation error, you have to take the loss. However I wouldn't consider any S/C a "simple" installation, could be product or install error.

i can tell you the stillen unit comes preassembled and what was actually wrong was thier pulley system for the charger was off causing it to eat belts. this is not my fault. stillen can say what they want but its with an ase cetified mechanic and he says its perfect. everything i did was on correct and the unit arrived assembled wrong. i may not be ase cetified but im not going to take the blame for a mistake that stillen made!!!!

Question Pulley Runout??

Question for the owner.

Does the pulley have a problem with runnout? What about the idler pulley, if installed?

If I detected runnout, I'd pull the pulley to mount it in a lathe and check the runnouts of the bore to the OD and the mounting face. If these are running true there is a possibility that the entire unit is "****ed" one direction or another with respect to the mounting "plane" of the engine's accessory belt pulleys. Either the pulley was mis-machined, or the mounting axis of the blower with respect to the plane of the accessory drive pulleys is the most likely cause of the belts dying early. One additional possibility comes to mind. The pulley on the blower is either too far forward or too far back with respect to the accessory drive plane.

Have you and your associates checked any of these possibilities during your troubleshooting process?

Let us know, as I at least, am curious as to the root cause.

Ralph

This is why I'm more than happy with the 305+ HP I have! If I wanted a race car, I'd have purchased one. Stillen are crooks now. Don't take NO for an answer!
