It's not polite to label people. Some of us "country boys" might know quite a bit about diesel engines and might have stock portfolios you would envy. Careful with the rhetoric, please. One can be correct without being mean about it.
The Navistar 6.0 engine did have a serious injector leak down issue in its first year run. That does appear to be fixed now. The Duramax had early teething problems with warped cylinder heads, which also seems fixed now.
Even so, I continue to drive my older 7.3 F-250 which is holding up well even though it is on the north side of 450,000 miles. We also have a dually Dodge 3500 with the Cummins 6 engine mated to a 4 speed manual and 4.10 rear end. First is a granny gear. It'll light up all four rear tires very easily just pushing the pedal to the floor in first, which probably should not even be used unless you are towing with that sucker. It "only" has about 250,000 miles.
I would love to see Nissan enter this market. But it better do its homework right. There's some good stuff out there in that segment. A new V8 Cummins is the most consistent rumor for the HD Titan and that would be exciting. They had better put a D-70 in the rear and a D-60 up front in the 4x4.
