guys this weekend at the Colts football game my father-in-law, who works at Navistar told me that they are building a new V-6 diesel engine for Nissan. the motor will be built in Europe though, he did not say anymore except they are going to build the motor with the help of Cummins and that they are already building the motors and more updates to come
very well could be Fronty or Pathy but it doesn't matter what the diesels are in they are on the way for the U.S.A. regardless of the current price of the current diesel prices they will to come down; just a side note to the maker of the Titan T-D and the V-6 Ford does own forty percent of Cummins thus the reason for the two getting together for the Diesels
i hope that V6 diesel is for either the path or fronty, i hope it's not for the titan. the should get either a I6 or V8 diesel. other than that, nissan is really going forward in the full size truck part. they made one hell of a 1/2 ton truck, imagine a 3/4 ton or even a 1 ton. nissan is really going

hey mud the Titans are defintely getting a V-8 T-D for the 2007-08 model years; imagine the Fronty with a V-6 Diesel or the Pathy man does that sound like a great future for the Nissan Corp.
I just posted this on another thread on this forum...2007 changes to the Titan. Anyway--I think a V6 option for a 1/2 ton Titan is a great move--power and fuel economy. Great combination. V8 Diesel is also a great option for a 3/4 ton HD Titan. I would like to see both options. With that--here is my previous post:
I read this article yesterday on pickuptruck.com....
In a final hint of the future, GM had a truck to show off the possibility of using a urea solution to reduce NOx on diesel engines. Inquisitive journalists sneaked a peek under the hood and found a 4.9-liter Isuzu-built diesel engine that had all the earmarks of a V6 Duramax. We can only wish.
Ideally, a light duty diesel engine--well suited for a 1/2 ton pickup that will probably achieve 20+ MPG--my estimations would be around 23-25MPG. GM's new full-size SUVs (2007) are rated at 20 MPG simply by reducing their drag coefficient. I certainly think that 25 MPG is possible if automakers build the technology into their trucks. Drag coefficient, 7 spd transmissions or CVT, computer chip manipulation for HP/torque, etc....
Like I said before--the first company to do this in a 1/2 ton truck platform will have a smash hit.
I would love to own a I-6 diesel like the dodge ram. The I-6 deisel is the most efficent and powerful diesel engine design. That is why a lot semis and farm equpiment have a I-6 design from cummins.
I know most large diesels are either 4 cylinder or 6 cyclinder. with a v-8 diesel( (ford, Chevy) you run in more drag resistance on the heads, thus less power from the same package.

Totally incorrect. Ford owns NONE of Cummins. Common misconception on the internet.
Thank you BAT 1 for clearing that up. It kinda irritates me when people say Ford owns x% of cummins. They did in the 80's but sold that percentage off.
IMO they should be developing an I-6 diesel. Much better low end torque and its the way a diesel is supposed to be made. Anybody have news on the new 3/4 ton or 1 ton tundra?

I think your wrong man! I sell Dodges and Nissans and my District Manager as well as others high up in the Chrylser chain has verified to us that Ford DOES own a large % of cummins! I also talk to the local Ford Dealer down here and he also verifys the same thing. Chrysler and Ford had a contract that Dodge could not come out with a "Crew Cab" for so many years. Well it's over now and thats why dodge came out with the 2006 Mega Cab. And do you also know that dodge holds the patent for the "Powerstroke" engine? I don't know where the misconception is but I get my info from the source.

Will they make it to compete with the new Duramax? It's supposed to have 360hp and 660lbs-ft. Would be kind of a waste if they make it a low 300's hp high4-mid 500lbs-ft.(atleast 345hp 600lbs-ft would be nice) Something that could compete with or best the big3's top diesels would hit a grand slam for Nissan. Look at the bright side, we can swap in the HD rear end's!

Ford does not own any part of Cummins, that is an urban legend.
