Re: is your Rear axle seal Leaking

Are we going to be seeing a TSB on the breather check valve?

That is the right rear that is leaking correct? What does it look like around the breather? Any sign it has been venting?

yeah, that's the right rear. Looking at the breather, it's dirty. Not sure it was clogged or not. Seems to be spring loaded or something. The truck has 26k.

Re: is your Rear axle seal Leaking

The breather sticks up about an inch or so on top of the axle tube housing on the right side. I was wondering if it might appear completely dry around the breather (no venting) and if that might be a sign that the breather is plugged or otherwise not working correctly, and if that might pressurize the axle seal and cause the leaking.

The breather/check valve is labeled with a blue arrow in the first photo of CJ3FLYR's breather tube extension thread (linked above)

Re: is your Rear axle seal Leaking

Best: I edited my last post. I can't tell if the breather is working or not. I just seems dirty with road grim. My appointment with the dealer is for the December 5th. I guessing it would be more common on the right rears without Limited slip?

Guess i bring up the radio reception issue as well, and that my rear diff case might be rusting and maybe leaking at the drain plug. Little things I've been putting off until the dealers catch up with us. Like with the brakes, which had the "real fix" done, over 6k ago and all is well.

Re: is your Rear axle seal Leaking

They re-sealed the leaking rear seal. Also told me the diff cover was normally replace at owner cost when servicing it. Guess I'll hunt for a trick after market to swap in at my next service. Any suggestions?
