Re: About to pull the trigger on an 06 using Fax Attack
Yes,
I used it and got an excellent deal on an 05 4X4 KC Titan. My only advice is not to let them either try to rush you and tell you that they are selling out of the one that you want. The second piece is some of them willl try to get you to go to the dealership and negotiate, don't do that either because it defeats the whole purpose of the fax attack. I had a scumbag salesperson try to tell me that there was no $3,000 rebate on the 05 Titan. He was playing games and he was the one trying to get me to go to the dealership. Also, they are going to ask you if you have ever test driven a Titan. I never test drove it and I lied to them so they would not try to get me in to their dealership for one. One last thing, after you find the dealership that you want to buy from you might want to get them to either fax you the proposal or email you it. The reason for this is you want to have something on paper when you walk into the dealership so they do not try to pull a fast one on you and change the deal. If you have the paperwork, they cannot do that. Good Luck and I hope you enjoy your new Titan!

Thanks maul23e. Good advice. I'll make sure I don't get reeled in. I'm hoping some of them will be willing to deal since it is the end of the month.

I also used the Fax attack and got an outstanding deal...I got 8000 off MSRP.. I also had a couple salespeople call and tell me to call them when I got the best price and they'll see what they can do then...Thats cheating the system. Also, make sure you call Mr. Bragg if you have questions....He is outstanding and will guide you in the right direction. Don't get antsy and give up if you have 2 dealers bidding against each other. Its sort of uncomfortable, but its called competition and it works, so just let it run its course.
Good luck!!

Re: About to pull the trigger on an 06 using Fax Attack
I used a similar method when purchasing my wifes Mazda RX8 for our anniversary. I faxed all dealers within 250 miles with a print out of mazda's design and build section of the auto I wanted, and had about 90% return with quotes. I however left the local dealer out of the equation. After letting all of the other dealers hash it out, I took the very best deal to my local dealer (who I wanted to purchase from for service and warranty prefered treatment reasons) and asked if he could beat the price I had on the quote. They bested the offer by $500.00 which was under invoice and I was a happy camper, so I ordered the exact one she wanted.

I know there isnt as much markup in a Frontier, but carsdirect's target price is not quite $4,000 off MSRP...
Is this fax-attack thing a better idea? There are only two that are remotly close to what he wants within a 100mile radius of Memphis ...
I'm not real familiar with carsdirect.com , I'm pretty impressed with the fax attack idea and the information they sent me. It was $35 and I've heard really good things about it, however, If there are only two trucks that fit your buddy's requirements, the fax-attack may not be as effective because the idea is to start a bidding war among the dealers and if one of the two dealers doesn't respond there won't be much of a bidding war.
If your friend wouldn't mind putting in a factory order from a dealership that may allow him to cast a larger net with more dealers.

Trust me...The Fax attack is a MUCH better way to buy a car! YOu simply cannot walk into as many dealers as you can fax and expect to get a quote from the manager! They are trained at sales techniques and will only waste your time. Go to www.fightingchance.com and order the package for the Frontier! You will see that you get everything that Carsdirect gives you and WAY more!!!! Remember, either way you go...The customer satisfaction survey is the biggest bargaining chip us consumers have! If you tell them you guarantee a 100% satisfaction, they start drooling like a pack a wolves at a fresh killed deer! Its so great to have the upper hand going into this process, you will never buy a car any other way.
Good luck.
