Unhappy Fuel Gauge problem

For the last month or so, my fuel gauge only move up to 98%. I filled up the tank and the gauge never went up to the max.
The first time, I thought it was a fluke but it happened many times.
Does anyone have this problem. I will schedule with the dealer to take it in.

Re: Fuel Gauge problem

I had this happen for maybe 2 (3?) fill ups but it's gone away ever since. I think if your problem isn't going away, take it in - they'll robably have to replace the fuel sending unit.

Re: Fuel Gauge problem

I had this problem with my '04. Also, the warning light came on and I could only add 15-17 gallons to fill. Took it to dealer and they replaced the fuel sender. Had to order it of course so it took two trips. Oh, what the heck. It was free.

Re: Fuel Gauge problem

I've had mine replaced once already. Apparently, there is no real fix because the new one does the same thing. Nissan had better get on the ball because their suppliers suck.

Re: Fuel Gauge problem

I filled up last week and the needle stayed on empty - it eventually went close to full after about a day. I'm taking it to the dealer on Friday, but I'm already assuming it's the fuel sending unit that everyone has talked about.

You turn the key one trun to the Accessory and leave it there. If truning the key on first dose not work try holding the button in first then trun on the key, It's been awhile sense I did this and I' tring to recall which one was first, anyway you will get it.

Then you hold in the trip button on your odomiter. It will start to go through some checks, you need to start pushing in the button to taggle through the checks you will get to one where all your dash lights will come on to check all of the bulbs. keep going a few more and you will get to the gauge check. stop right there, do not push in the trip button anymore.

The gauges will move all the way up and down and back up to reset the gauges to where they are supose to read.
Hope this works for you, it worked for me.

Deep.

That's just a system check. If it somehow "reset" something for you, it's purely coincidental. It doesn't reset anything.

I don't know what to say it work for me.
When I first started my truck up my fuel gauge would read about 1/2 a tank when I just filled it the night before and only drove about 4 miles right home.
All I can tell you is that It's been about one month and my fuel gauge still gose way past full when it's filled up and on my NAV it now shows 400 to 410 miles to empty when before it would never go above 378 miles to empty so I know it work for me And my fuel gauge is way more accurate then before.

The fuel guages in this truck are never right. Some days their close, others...no so close. Nissan knows about it but can only replace them from its' current supplier. The biggest telltale sign is that the fuel guage, even when it shows just above full after filling, will drop to 3/4 in no time. It seems to sit a 1/4 for the longest, and this is after being changed once already. The key thing and holding the trip odo button if a readout for the techs only....this coming from a few Nissan techs I know personally, but....I will try it again and see if you're right, and they're wrong!

Mine's done the exact same thing a couple of times. Run it down to E, fill it up, the guage takes about an hour to creep up to full.

The dealer replaced the tank sender, it didn't fix it. Don't waste your time with that. They still can't tell me why its done that.
