performance suggestions?

hi my name's ryan, i'm a new member here but a long time viewer of the site. i'm also a technician at a nissan dealer and that's how i fell in love with my titan. i have an 05' titan crew cab 2wd se with all the goodies except the leather and the navi.... performance wise i have an fipk intake, flowmaster 40series exhaust with reso deletes and stock pipes, coolant bypass, ground wire kit, and 2 degrees advanced timing with the consult nissan computer run on 91 octane. i love this truck and it sure does scream but cant get enough of the power and want more... any members have any suggestions to get more outta these already sweet trucks?

Re: performance suggestions?

Will the ECU advance the timing by itself after a few tanks of 91 octane?

Re: performance suggestions?

the factory ecu constantly changes your timing based on many factors such as fuel and air and temperature. as far as i know your timing will not advance based on fuel alone but u might get a slight advance along the rpm range. what i did was advance my timing 2 degrees constantly above what the timing is at any rpm range which is why i require 91 octance to avoid my knock sensors from retarding my timing from poor fuel.

Re: performance suggestions?

To improve current performance in the truck,
synthetic oils all around (2hp)
improve curb weight (depends on weight, every 100 pounds = .1 second)

To increase performance,
NOS system (20-100hp)
Headers (15-25hp)
Remove fan from the belt and convert into electric fans (5hp)
Custom ECU upgrade
Turbo/Supercharger setup

Re: performance suggestions?

Hey Swarren1, do you know anything new regarding Deaver spring packs? I think I saw posts regarding (1) possible upgrade pack to retain stock overload leaf and (2) possible upgrade pack with minimal rear lift. Any news?

Haven't heard anything on 1, for a quite awhile. For 2, he said it would take several weeks, but he can mod the existing ones I believe.

Re: performance suggestions?

i was talking to another tech at my dealer and he told me that electric fans actually reduce hp over the fan clutch setup.....

Re: performance suggestions?

i also have all synthetic oils and have reduced drag weight by removing spare tire and such and as far as i know by checking on here there are no real ecu upgrades that really work so far?

Re: performance suggestions?

Hmm wouldn't getting rid of the mechanical setup reduce the load on your crank directly? Less mass to travel around... less inertia?

Re: performance suggestions?

according to my co-worker.... he said the mechanical setup is better because the drag is only put on the motor when the motor needs it but when the motor is cool or at a high rpm such as in racing that the clutch disengages and the drag is no longer there. an electrical setup puts a load on the electrical system and takes horsepower that way.

Re: performance suggestions?

How much would a supercharger cost you with your employees' discount? It don't get any better than that performance wise.
