Looking for a new Winch?

If anyone is in a market for a new winch, Costco is carrying 8,000lbs electric winches from Champion. I saw it at our local Costco and just want to pass on the info. Didn't see any prices on it since they were still in shrink wrap.

Re: Looking for a new Winch?

I always thought that the receiver hitch mounts were interesting. That way you can get front and rear receiver hitches and mount the winch on either end as needed. Often times you need to pull yourself out backwards, but the winch is on the front bumper. In my experience, front mounted winches are used most of the time to assist others. With a receiver hitch mount, you can also leave the winch protected and safe at home for the 99% of the time that you won't need it because you are driving around on the highway.

Re: Looking for a new Winch?

Here's a nice report from someone that has it on his truck. It looks like it comes with a number of good accessories. Below the report is a link to the manufacturer.

I'd be interested in it if I didn't already have my Ramsey REP9000.

But will it pull a Jeep through a half-frozen pond? I think that will become the new gold standard by which all winches will be rated.
