Thinking about 06'...any progress on the rear diffs and other problems??

Hello everyone, I am thinking about giving Nissan another opportunity. My 05' Titan has been nothing short of a disaster. So, has any changes been made to the 06' models. I had 2 rear end failures so I was hoping they have made strides in that department. Any info would be helpful. And, has ANYONE been able to figure out what in the heck is wrong with the rear ends?????

See Austin's thread. The dealer gave him back the old rear axle and he took it apart, posted photos. His has the E-lock. The teeth were mushed off the spider gears. He has been pounding the new one hard for a few days w/o problem. He is running a lift and 37" tires so he is probably a pretty good tester. Curiously, they have no bearing for the locker solenoid coil in his old axle. Dunno if they fixed that for '06 or not.

Please forgive me, but I am not mechanically inclined. So, what exactly are you talking about when discussing a bearing for the locker? Are you stating that none of the Titans have this bearing? How important is it? And, finally, should I not get a Titan that has the Locker option which I assume only comes with the Offroad package? Thanks for your help
Paul

See Austin's pictures. There is a solenoid coil that engages the E-locker. The coil remains stationary, but is located adjacent a moving part of the differential. Austin reported that an end face of the coil bears markings apparently generated by friction. At least one other locking differential of which I am aware has a similar arrangement, but includes a ball bearing for the solenoid coil.

Compare the exploded view in the following literature with Austin's pictures.
