tires/calibration

Is it necessary to recalibrate your spedometer after getting bigger tires? I have BFG 33s on order... thanks.

Re: tires/calibration

Even if it is necessary, it can't be recalibrated.

And stock, you have 33s. Actually 32.6, but close enough. You will be off by 0.1 mph at 60 mph.

Re: tires/calibration

Kay guys, I don't understand this. I drove 711km yesterday from my house to my moms in my truck. I got stopped the RCMP twice. First time was just an hour from home, I came up the Peace River hill, just about to see my cruise control and as I topped the hill I met a very nice female cop. She spun around and asked me were I was going so fast. She said, you should be getting a $150 ticket, I said holy crap how fast was I going? She said 127km/hr. I said i was shocked (100km/zone) cuz I was about to set my cruise on 120. She told my I best slow down ALLOT!!! I left, no ticket luckily.
Then a few hours down the road I met another officer leaving Whitecourt in a 110 zone. She pulled me over and said I was going 118km/hr already so I should maybe pull it back a bit. I was sure I wasn't even going 110 yet.
According to the above posts, my speedometer and my 33's should still be in calibrated. I am taking my truck in tmrw, should I get Nissan to take a look at it cuz my husband will $hit on my head if I come home with a ticket. What do you guys think?

Re: tires/calibration

Are you running stock 33's allybabe?. If I run 35's it throws my spedo off by approx 8km at 110km/h. So it would make sense if you had 35's that you would run a bit fast. What is your tire size? To avoid problems I just use my gps for real time speed and it seems to be quite accurate.

Re: tires/calibration

I have one of these and it works great. The 04-07 have a different part number than the 08-UP titans.

I definately have 33's on 17in rims. I ran a thing on the computer at nissan to see what the tech and i could figure out and supposedly the most my tires could put me out was 3.2km/hr which still doesn't seem right but that is what the computer told me. So....I guess I just have to slow down.
Funny thing happened yesterday, I drove down to etown on wet sloppy roads so my truck was really dirty, driving down freeways and city streets it seems nobody even glanced at me. Then...I quickly ran into a wand wash and rinsed it off, honestly it was a 3dollar wash so it was a really quick rinse but as soon as i drove out of the carwash, heads were turning. haha. This truck just attracts attention, it is so shiny even with just a quick rinse. I even got a thumbs up from a guy in a modded F350. So now I gotta keep it washed to keep ego inflated. haha.
