HP gain with a dual setup??

hey guys - closer 2 finnnnnnally installing my first major mod, but just a quick question as far as possible differences/gains when it comes to a dual exhaust system

assuming i go with a dual magnaflow setup, how much HP/Torque can i expect to gain?? any thing actually noticeable (aside from sound)??

has anyone hooked their truck up to a dyno to see exact numbers??

obviously mpg wont change by a great deal, but installing a dual exhaust i am atleast expecting a gain of atleast mpg or 2!

ive heard anything from "nothing to talk about to 14 hp"
let me know guys!

Re: HP gain with a dual setup??

Don't know about the titan, but the armadas, which have a different exhaust path, actually have more power with a good single. The Gibson seems to be the one. Again, it is different though.

I think dual vs. single is a matter of preference, look's, sound etc. I have personally never seen any data that would suggest either has substantially more power/hp/tq gains.

Re: HP gain with a dual setup??

I have a custom 2.5 inch with res delete and dual magnaflows. Its got a nice rumble when idle and low RPMs but when you punch it it screams LOUD. When cruising on the hwy there is a very low mild rumble but you basically cant hear it with the radio on.

Never dynoed it but I lost a small bit of low end but it feels like a decent gain at the top.

Re: HP gain with a dual setup??

You can check the dyno's thread to see if people have listed a before/after.

I have the Banks, and it's pretty nice. Some people who've added exhaust have seen a slight loss at the low end, but a bigger gain at high end, which would lead me to believe there's a decent HP gain, but not in the form of torque.

As for gas mileage, I don't know if you'll really get better gas mileage. I think you'll probably see worse...I went from 15.6 to just under 14. I don't know if it's due to the exhaust only, or if my foot has something to do with it too...??

Re: HP gain with a dual setup??

If you do not change your driving habbits after the install , you may see a 1 mpg difference in your consumption. However, "most" people I know rev a little bit more to enjoy the sound. That will make your gas milage worse. I think the best dyno I have seen for an exhaust only addition was low doulbe digits.

Re: HP gain with a dual setup??

Yes it adds HP, I went from 308 rating on the Dyno here at the Speed Shop in El Paso, TX. to 338. Much taller third gear, additionally I retuned the Engine Control Unit and gained more mileage HP went up to 346. I'm running Flowmaster 50 series, less noise in the cabin VS. the 70 series. added a CAI Voliant3 going next week to recheck the HP again. Goal= 356HP 410 Torque.

The way I read his post, it sounded like he was saying 30 from the exhaust only. Is that right AMDKid? If so, sorry but that's hard for me to swallow too...
