Re: something rattling

I had the same problem, It was the right side strut. I took it to the dealer and they replaced it.

Re: something rattling

there is also a new tsb out for the fan assembly - loose/rattling.

I have a similar rattle coming from the front of the vehicle. I will be taking it in for the tsb and also have them adjust hood/latch which other members have posted will fix a rattle from the front.

Re: something rattling

I have an 04 SE without off-road, and the front skid pan has four of the weakest 12 mm bolts holding it to the truck I have ever seen! I had a rattle from it that only happened once in a while, when I climbed underneath, one of the bolts was loose. I tried to remove it and it had stripped and wouldn't come out. So, I had to knock it off with a chisel, and re-threaded it to a larger bolt. That was at about 10,000 miles. This past week, I changed my oil, 30,000 miles, and another one did the same thing. So, I tapped all three of them and put in 1/2" stainless steel bolts for each. The two bolts were stripped so bad you could hardly see the threads on them. I also broke the head off one of the others when I removed it. Hopefully, they didn't use these same botls for much else!

Re: something rattling

The whole truck is built with bolts like that, we call them "butter bolts" and most will gall with ease. On reassembly, we use a bit of anitsieze on jsut about everything, makes a huge difference.
