Considering a Titan purchase. Opinions/comments needed
I just bought an 05 Altima SE this year, but now Im wishing I had a truck and missing my old truck. Trucks are just so much more useful than a car, and I dont carry many passengers, a king cab full size would suit my needs.
I like the Titans looks and power numbers, however, after reading about the Titan and scanning these forums, Im seeing a lot of brake issues, rear end issues, squeaks, rattles and so on.
Did Nissan just slap this thing together or what? Is this truck really this bad? Should I stick with the tried and true F-150 or Tundra?
Oh, and is that nifty side bed storage area only available as part of a $950 option package like Im led to believe from Nissans web page?

Welcome to Titantalk.
If you need a truck, I don't think that you would go wrong with the Titan. I've got over 30K on my truck and I am very pleased with it. I use the heck out of my truck, I probably put more wear and tear on my truck in a year than a lot of people would in two or three. I have had a few minor issues with it but not any more than I have had with any other truck. By the way i've owned all of them through the years, in fact I traded a Toyota truck for my Titan. If I had it to do over again I would'nt hesitate to buy another Titan.

I like mine, 2 years owned with zero problems. I would buy another one if I had to do it all over again.

I think just about every truck has issues. The question becomes, how many issues are too many issues...(Did I say that right...?)
Anyway, I've had mine almost a year and it has 20,600 miles and very few problems. I had the brake issue, which I believe is not an issue on the 06's. I also had the AC drain leak, which has also been corrected.
When I was shopping for a truck, the Titan was the last one I looked at, and the first one I wanted.
If you haven't test drove one yet, drive everything else, first-then drive the Titan...
Welcome to TT, and good luck in your purchase!

Re: Considering a Titan purchase. Opinions/comments needed
I have just under 5k miles on my '05. My feelings are that the engine is great, transmission feels good. My only sore spot with the truck, is that I am starting to get the impression that some of the fit/finish items may have been an after-thought.
I am starting to get a significant amount of rattles with the interior. My truck is currently at the dealer for the frozen door handle issue as well as the seat squeak (2nd trip for the squeak.)
I have yet to encounter the brake or rear diff issues that some have, I expect if I do encounter those my opinion may change some more. I only say this because my brother-in laws Chevy 1500 while lacklust in the engine and looks category does not have the fit and finishe issues that my truck has.
I guess it depends on how particular are...

LE has it because the Utility Pkg option is included with that trim level.
An SE is ONLY going to have it if the Utility Pkg option is ordered, it is not standard on all SE models.

Every truck out there has it own batch of "problems". I don't think the Titan has any more or less problems than the others. Overall, I think Nissan did a really good job with this truck. The F-150's and Tundra's are also good trucks. It's all in what you want/like. I bought the Titan over the F-150 because the Ford just lacked the muscle and there are F-150's EVERYWHERE. I like to be different, and back when I bought my Titan alot of people didn't even know there was such a thing as a Titan. Even now you don't see a whole lot of them.....and I like that. The current Tundra's are smaller than the Titan and are boring looking. Toyota makes a good truck though, and I hear the next generation Tundra is going to be bad-a$$. Way,way, too many Ram's out there and I don't like them that much anyway....very good motor but otherwise junk in my opinion. All-in-all, after 20,000 miles, I am not sorry with my choice in the Titan.
(P.S.- If the Titan did not exist I would have gone F-150)

No, Nissan DID NOT just slap this thing together. Take into consideration an all new product, built at an all new plant. Sure there were some QC issues with some trucks, but as long as humans are involved in the building process there will be imperfections.
Brake issue- this is not an issue unless you are buying an old '05 or '04. If you are buying an '06 there is no problem to talk about because the revised design seems to work just great.
Rear end issues- mine was dripping a bit, but a new pinion seal and I'm good as new, no real problem in my book.
Squeaks & rattles- I have none of these
Tundra- that thing is no full size truck, have you compared it to the brand new Tacoma? Waste of money to buy a Tundra nowadays...
F-150- was my second choice, and as one of my close friends has one, I'm SO GLAD I did not get one and went Titan!

Re: Considering a Titan purchase. Opinions/comments needed
id say as long as you get a extended warranty and a 06 ONLY
mine is a peice of crap (and for me personally Nissan Corporate Customer service is really bad--but if you get a good truck--you wont ever have to deal with them--MOST wont ever need to called corporate)
if you can wait though Id hold out for a 07 tundra to be honest though
