New Titan Owner -- Thanks to Big T

Howdy, howdy from the sunny southwest!!!!

After being a "domestic" pickup owner for many years, I have now joined the ranks of the elite and as of today, have a 2005 Red Alert King Cab XE 4x2 in the driveway.

I searched NissanUSA's web site for a leftover 2005 model in the trim I wanted in the area and found five; one in Ada, Oklahoma (my old hometown) at Ada Nissan, one in Oklahoma City at Hudiburg Nissan, and three at Dan Mullins Nissan in Lawton, Oklahoma (home of the U.S. Army's Ft. Sill and artillery training schools for those who don't know).

I talked to Hudiburg and Mullins (Ada Nissan was too cool to return my calls). Hudiburg was/is a typical high pressure, stereotypical car dealership (watch the movie "Slasher" or check out "Used Cars" and you'll see what I mean) and left me.....cold.....right off the bat. Mullins was super laid back, told me to shop around and take my time, and answered every question I had (even the dumb ones). Best of all, they didn't wear me out by calling me two or three times a day like Hudiburg. ("We need your business! This is our last 2005 Titan and won't last long!!!")

Here's where things got even better:

I already knew the OKC-area Nissan dealerships by reputation (poor, at best) and knew a little about Ada (not much better), but I didn't know squat about Mullins. So I came here and searched around. The closest I came was the member many of you know, "Big T," who lives in Lawton.

Not only was Big T familiar with Mullins, he knows the general manager and owner quite well and offered to take off and meet me over at the dealership for introductions. Keep in mind he doesn't know me from Adam. So he made time out of HIS busy day for me to come and kick the tires (and he doesn't even work at the dealership).

Long story short, it was one of the most pleasant sales experiences I've ever had. I made a deal to buy the truck and made arrangements to take delivery next week when I was supposed to be off next (I work a rotating shift in a power plant -- sort of like Homer Simpson). I got a call late yesterday morning from the salesperson who offered to deliver my new pickumup so I wouldn't have to make the drive back to Lawton.

A BIG thanks to Dan Mullins Nissan and the salesperson, Ramona Hail. You guys are the best!!!!! I hope I can send you another customer.

And an even BIGGER thanks to Big T for making time to give me a leg up and answer my questions. I really do appreciate the effort. If I can ever help you out, let me know.

Re: New Titan Owner -- Thanks to Big T

Welcome in, J.N., and thanks for the interesting thread.

It seems that the various dealership sorts that you spoke of are spread pretty much equally throughout the states. There are those that are so stereotypical that it is almost funny, and thankfully, there are also a some gems amongst them spread few and far between.

Once again, welcome.

Your Welcome! The fact that you are now the proud owner of a Nissan Titan is thanks enough. I was more than happy to introduce you to the people at Dan Mullins Nissan, they go out of their way to make buying a car/truck a pleasant experience. Enjoy your new Titan!!

Used to have family in Lawton, went there twice. Once dad was stationed at Fort Sill. ARTILLARY...BOOM!!! Once was to visit family years and years later, there for an Northrup Grumman job. They live VA now.
Nice truck, looks good. Glad to hear of good dealers. Worth their weight in Gold!
