I don't have any Diff failures, but I was wondering if anyone has had problem's with and annoying squeak in the rear? Might be suspension... I bought it stock and a week later dealer put different rims and cat back exhaust. Since then, I've had an annoying squeak! I had them look it over, but they can't figure out the noise and its not the cat back exhaust, they thought it was the leaf spring bracket, but it wasn't. They put the new bracket, but it still squeaks and it only squeaks when i take off quick...especially on a hill. Let me know if you heard of this problem.

Check your leaf spring mounting bolts. One of mine was loose and squeaked when I turned. You really have to get down on them to get them tight! Once I tightened them no more squeak!

Some of the ones ive seen had sqeaks coming from the Y-pipe section heatsheild, many Frontiers have this very same problem.
Someone told me about this board so I figured that I would check it out.
I have a 04 SE, 4x4. The rear end gave out yesterday and I have 40,000 miles on the odometer. Called the nissan dealership about the warranty. The 36,000 bumper to bumper is up, but the what about the 60,000 powertrain? The dealer said it "might" be covered. Just had it towed to the dealership for them to evaluate it. Has anybody had any luck getting the rear end repalced after the 36,000 mile warranty was up?

Fred,
You have a 5 year 60,000 powertrain warranty. The rear is covered. The dealership knows this and should have told you so. Nissan is aware tht there are potential problems with the 04 and early 05 axle assemblies. You should have no problem getting a replacement under warranty. Nissan has even covered multiple replacements. Did you have a catastropic failure (e.g., sheered gears)?
Please be sure to report your failure to the NHTSA and provide us with your new axle assembly info if possible. Also if you could provide info on your truck White LE will add you to the failure log (look back in this thread for the latest copy). Thanks and good luck!

Don't let them rile you. Bunch of goofs. I've been playing dumb and just let them keep fixing it. Saves my energy for better things.
Case in point! Cheif is on his second (and hopefully last ) axle assembly. Both covered under warranty. I don't think he had to kick the $hit out of anybody to get it fixed. Am I right cheif?

Stealership called me this morning and told me there was a rear axle being sent from nissan in the next couple of days. I asked the service guy "so that means it is covered under warranty?" Service guys replies, it should be. Appears the locker took a crap, which is what I figured cause it acted the same way my jeep did a couple of years ago when I blew the detriot. So I guess there is a list of reported failures somewhere? (forgive me I didn't read the 10 pages bofore)

Yeah you are right Toxman. Well close, I'm on the 3rd diff You gotta play more stupid than they do.
When it went in the second time, I didn't even tell them it was the second failure, that was kinda fun when they found out themselves. I plan on doing the same when the third one goes. (that's if this new design 4 pinion turns out to be crap), Once the fourth goes I'll be getting my money from them for the tru-trac under the lemon law. Unless they want to buy back my low mileage truck.
I'm thinking they might take a real beating on a buy-back. I've seen trucks advertised for 10,000 dollars less than 1.5 years ago when gas was 'cheap'.
Really amazing, The 34,000 Ram that I couldn't touch, with all the goodies I wanted, is now 24,000 dollars.
(No I'm not getting a Dodge, I like my truck and everything is gonna be just fine)
