Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

Unfortunately CT members seem to be much less critical of their Titans. Thanks for reminding me, I do have one response.

Our log is now on CT.

Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

Hi White,

How often does NHTSA update their on line records? I reported my failure to them today and now have an ODI number, but when I went to check on it, the report does not show up.

Just curious as to how often they update their information. Mine should make 34 for the 2004 Titans.

Hey Vector,

I never noticed a lagtime on the NHTSA site, but I never really checked.

BTW, sorry about your diff going out, and Thanks for helping by filing

Chief

Hi Chief,

Thanks, more than happy to help by filing. I see that my complaint is up on the NHTSA sight today, so they must update every 12 or 24 hours. I just hope something good comes out of it. I dont think the new differential will be any better than the one that just let loose.

My Thoughts Too. Even though this is the first 4 pinion that's been in the truck out of three (at least I believe it's a 4 pinion), It's pretty tough to have confidence. If mine happened to be one of the any other models (non-e-lock) that have no changes at all, I'd have no confidence.

Feel kinda stuck. I tow about 7,000 lb TT. Even though it's not that often, the last thing I want is for it to go out on a trip. If it IS weak, It would be in my best interest to not baby it and have it keep going out now instead of babying it and have it go out at 60,000 miles, leaving me out in the cold.

Check out your state's lemon laws. I checked mine out and the outlook is pretty bright

I have had 3 vehicles bought back under lemon law. My problem is that I really love my Titan. I would rather have the problem fixed properly and keep the truck. I dont want to buy another truck, this one is a ton of fun.

I would just like NHTSA to get involved and make them replace my E-Lock Rear End with a Dana 70,80 or 90 =:-)

Same here. I don't intend to have them do a buyback. I have full intentions of keeping the truck until it rusts dowm to the tires I'm hoping and guessing that the negotiations will be flexible. For under 1,000 dollars I could have the tru-trac, parts and labor. Everyone on the boards has had great results with it and appears happy. I'd rather have the fulltime limited slip than what's on there now, and it should be a lot cheaper for Nissan to shell out a few bucks than do a buy back. That's what I'm guessing anyway.

I'm planning on talking to a lawyer about this soon for an opinion so I can plan on 'what if', and get the facts.

Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

Let me know what your lawyer says. Here is a pic of the new rear end. I just picked her up today at 3:30 so she is back in action again.

Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

thanks Vector. Please reply with your ODI # and the information that is missing about your vehicle in the attachment. Also, if you have your old rear end part number, that would be great.

Others--let me know if I have missed anyone.

Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

you bet they are lying hot titan. The dealer here in town rarely has more than 2-3 titans on the lot as they are more of an urban/upscale dealership. The mechanic stated to me during a test drive when i asked him out rear end change out that they have had "quite a few."
