Just out of curiosity, has anyone who filed a complaint been contacted by the NHSTA? Back in the early days(about two years ago) I had reported a problem with the rear center seat belt not releasing/retracting properly, and an investigator contacted me within about 30 days. I don't recall any other complaints on that issue at the time yet they contacted me.
If they haven't been in contact with any of the complainants with failed diffs, is it because they don't consider the diff failures likely to result in accident or injury?

Being it's a govt agency, I'd bet they don't make any judgement calls. If it's a seatbelt, you get a call Diff, no call
PRJ--have you had your diff fluid changed? Also, if you want to help out, reply with your rear diff part number (white sticker in my previous reply) and we can see if it matches any of those that have blown.
thanks

Hmmmm... Couldn't find any sticker on my differential. My truck has seen a lot of water, mud and road salt. Must have fallen off or disinigrated.
Well it looks like the rear Diff problem has hit me. Its either that or my 4wd went out. It drives fine, but when I switch into 4hi the gears just spin and clank. Any ideas? Great timing!!! We still have 2 inches of ice on most roads here in Tulsa and could be getting some snow this weekend.

Wish me luck!!!
Sounds more like front diff if everything is ok in 2WD.
