Is there a part number stamped into the metal on the axle tube? The number on the sticker is Nissan's part number. If there is a Dana part number stamped into the metal, you might be able to find information here:

Well I have 400 miles on my new diff and the whining has started. I took it back to dealer and they could also hear the noise comming from the diff. The oil had turned a greyish black color. They are calling Nissan for another diff. I told them I do not want the 027A again. If the diff on the 07 is a new model diff with upgrades to fix the problem, I want it. If they tell me it is the same as mine, I feel sorry for 07 buyers. If I get another 027A, I will be trading the Titan in. 5 brake jobs and 4 diffs in 60,000 miles is enough. I will update when I see what the news is from Nissan.

Nissan will be putting the same s27A back in my Titan Thursday. This will be the 4th S27 in 60,000 miles. They said that Nissan engineers would be down to check the installation and try to find out why I have so many failures. I really don't think the failures has anything to do with my truck rather the bad designed diff. I will see how this installation goes and then decide if I start lemon law process. I hope they have a solution as I would still rather have a Titan than any other truck out there today, including the Tundra.

Do you have the E-LOCK on yours? I'm having mine replaced and I have the E-lock. How many miles are you getting out of a diff? I got 28k out of mine while towing or 8500 LB TT. Yours has to be how it's installed as opposed to design alone.

I have a 2 wheel drive with big tow. Have not seen a lot of 2 wheel drive failures. most are 4x4 with locker. Nissan will not answer me when I ask if my 3 broken diffs are the same as what is in the 07 models. Something is wrong but Nissan is not talking. So I keep changing diffs until something works or I give up.

just curious shanky--how much for the front diff?--also, please let us know if there is a part number associated with your new front diff as we may have to start tracking these more closely.
white
Dealer quoted me $1750.00 which $1495.00 is the front diff.
I just got it back yesterday 6weeks in the shop. Filed a second claim w. NNA Consumer affairs but do not expect any help.
Really has me t'd off that I had to pay for the supposed redesigned part needed to correct the problem.
I took photos of my old one, the 04 I got from Texas and the new one w/ #'s hope to have them posted by the weekend.

That really sucks Shanky. I notice my front whines a lot when 4x4 is engaged. I'm gonna have the dealer note it, see what they can do. What do you guys think? I'd like to cover my butt if possible.
Well, I regret to inform you guys that I just joined the list of damaged goods. My rear differential started making a clunking noise that would increase with acceleration. This happened on March 6. I took it to the dealer, they inspected it, and they stated that it was the pin that had broken, they tried to get by just replacing the pin, but were not able to order it by itself, so they bit the bullet and ordered a whole new rear end. It was done 4 days later.
Here are the stats:
'04 4x4 LE CC Big Tow w/o Off-Road, No locker, 25,404 miles, 1st rear end, Tow up to 9,000 lbs, VDC, new part No. 43003-7S37A, new Dana No. 3787.
Complaint No. 10185720

Nissan finished putting a S27A back in my truck today. For 30 miles it was quiet then the whining started again. I was told by Nissan district rep that Nissan engineers would be there to verify all was good. No one showed up and the dealer knew nothing about it. I still think Nissan changed the 07 model diffs but for some reason they will not put one in my truck. I think Dana is giving these old diffs to Nissan for free to replace faulty 04-06 trucks. If nissan puts a 07 in they would have to pay for it. I also noted that the shop foreman installed both my last diffs which is probably free to the dealer since the foremans time is probably spread out to all work orders. I will be getting back to Nissan consumer affairs but I doubt they will do more than B/S. Probably headed for BBB arbitration or lemon law.
