Nov 16, 1996, UGA at Auburn, 1st quarter: UGA V almost takes Auburn wide receiver Rober Baker's manhood off for catching a touchdown pass to put Auburn up 7-0. Stupid leash.
Nissan finished putting a S27A back in my truck today. For 30 miles it was quiet then the whining started again. I was told by Nissan district rep that Nissan engineers would be there to verify all was good. No one showed up and the dealer knew nothing about it. I still think Nissan changed the 07 model diffs but for some reason they will not put one in my truck. I think Dana is giving these old diffs to Nissan for free to replace faulty 04-06 trucks. If nissan puts a 07 in they would have to pay for it. I also noted that the shop foreman installed both my last diffs which is probably free to the dealer since the foremans time is probably spread out to all work orders. I will be getting back to Nissan consumer affairs but I doubt they will do more than B/S. Probably headed for BBB arbitration or lemon law.
Texan,
You have a lemon law case that would get you far, at least in Pennsylvania. You should talk to a lawyer over the phone. They are more than happy to discuss the situation and can sometimes negotiate a good deal for you. Maybe you could take cash and go for the tru-trac.
It doesn't seem to be too much of a headache. They can negotiate while your truck is operable.
Just to update everyone on my issue, I just spoke to the dealer and they're replacing the entire assembly from wheel to wheel. Not only that, but they said that a bolt came loose somewhere which caused the driveshaft to wiggle part of the way out of the rear diff which is where the fluid leaked out. The splines on both sides of the connection were damaged, so I'm getting a new driveshaft as well!

You want a phone number, I can PM you.

Thanks Chief. I have already talked to a lemon law lawyer and he said the same as you that getting some sort of buyback should be no problem. I am checking into going through the BBB here in Houston which may get me what I think I could live with. If I can get Nissan to give we a bumper to bumper warranty out to 100k I will be happy to change out a few more diffs. Maybe some day they will just put a revised diff in my truck and everything will be great. I still like this truck. But my patience is running thin.

Sounds like you're on top of it already. I like the extended warranty idea, it could be the ticket for some folks, it just hit me, that's what we are shooting for

Yes, when I read that portion the first time I thought the same thing. But the way it was explained to me by the lawyer was, only the first failure has to occur within that mileage/time frame. I also got the impression that even if the 1st failure was outside this time frame, the lawyer would still possibly fight and had a good chance at some type of award.
I figure, the diff is covered for 5 yrs 60,000 miles, so if the 1st one goes while warranted, you may have some recourse after the 3rd one goes.
Just might be worth at least consulting with a lawyer if that was the case.
We all have to understand, Nissan is playing a cat and mouse game with us on these diff problems. They will lie and tell us they really have no big problems until we get to our 4th diff in 59000 miles. They are using the surplus diffs that Dana gives them hoping to keep us happy until our warranty runs out. At that time we will have to pay 3000 plus to fix the problem. I intend to fight right now to get this thing solved. I have also had the brake fix done twice which shows the fix is not all it was cracked up to be. I think they may have solved a lot of the problems in the 07-08 models but the earlier years are still a problem. I have been lied to by Nissan consumer affairs and the local reps. They will tell you anything to shut you up. I like my Titan but I am tired of getting screwed. If it walks like a duck and it talks like a duck*********.

I agree. Consumer affairs is damage control. They have a nice wall set up with rehearsed answers. Most of us have been through this.
I'm done being aggravated, I just play dumber than they do.
I had my truck in for warranty work this week. One of the fixes was for the paint peeling off my bumper, pretty common problem. It was peeling in different spots, not just the sides. They ordered a new bumper.
When the truck was done, this jackoff calls to tell me it's ready. He says the peeling paint was due to rocks being kicked up by the rear wheels, (around the license plate???) and although it wasn't covered under warranty, they replaced it as a one time courtesy to me, and that I should keep an eye on it.
My response was that 'Yeah you are right, I'm well aware that the Titan has had absolutely no issues with paint coming off of the bumper.' There was dead silence, then he again said I could pick my truck up. I thanked him for the courtesy service, even though they didn't have to do it and told him I'll be real careful with the new bumper, again dead silence, I just hung up.
I would like to know the part numbers for the 07 diffs on a Titan with BT, CC, SE, 2 WD with traction control. It would be interesting to know if all 07s have the new part numbers or if some have the old part numbers shown on the spread sheet. I think it would be ZH02B . I think that was the new part number I saw on a dealers lot for a truck like mine. I think the ZH04D and ZH05D are 4 wd diffs.

Mine was a ZH06D, which failed shortly after I bought the truck new. The replacement is a ZH05D and it had a tag on it that showed a manufacture date of a few weeks before installation. So, as stated in another post on this thread, it dosn't appear that came from some "surplus" from Dana.
Mine has been fine ever since and now has almost 28,000 on it.
