my 07 CC 4x4 BT rear diff # is 43001-ZH04B and i've not seen anyone else post this part # ? i would like to know if mine has an updated rearend with the 4 spider gears or do i have the one with 2 spider gears ?
I can't seem to get a straight answer on this issue either...I've been told that it's the same unit...and I've been told there are improvements to the internal components (one Nissan mechanical mentioned additinal pinion bearings?).
I'm not sure how you could have four spider gears...how would there be any room in the diff for that?
Does any human on earth have a definative answer? This is a mystery greater than the lost continent of Atlantis (no...it's not actually in the Bahamas).

i would really like to know also i had mine replaced but what doeas that mean with a improved version or a new old one thats going to go again we need to get to the bottom of this
Nissan will not tell us what changes they have or have not made. I am afraid they have made some changes on the locker version but done nothing on the others. If they had made big changes, they would be bragging about it. We will all know when 07 Titans start loosing diffs. If that happens, used Titans might be easy to find. I can not get consumer affairs to even call me back so I can tell them the 4th diff they just installed is humming at 200 miles and the oil is greyish black. Something is wrong here. They change these diffs out too easy. They must know why they fail but they are not telling us.

Mine was a ZH06D, which failed shortly after I bought the truck new. The replacement is a ZH05D and it had a tag on it that showed a manufacture date of a few weeks before installation. So, as stated in another post on this thread, it dosn't appear that came from some "surplus" from Dana.
Mine has been fine ever since and now has almost 28,000 on it.
That makes sense. All the diffs they are putting on my truck are dated 10-06 but your new truck is a date close to your build date on your truck. They must be getting rid of the old problem diffs hoping some will work not caring about the customer. Something is starting to smell here.

new here... reading some of the symptoms of the rear problems... are they VERY obvious? humming and such. I have 19k on my 2005 KC with a locking rear and never thought about it. I did have the brake issue, after I towed a bass boat through the mountains. dealer replaced and they are fine but have not needed to tow heavy since.

My symptoms were a whinning sound around 50-60 mph which stops when you let off the gas but happens again when you step back on the gas. When I check the oil in the diff, it is a dark color rather than the clear pink oil they put in. Check the inside of your wheels to see if you have any seal leaks. Two of mine had seal leaks. Others have had metal rattling sounds all the way up to a total lock up.
