I have asked the dealer to check any thing on my truck that could be causing the failures. They said they found nothing. The last diffs had no towing and mostly highway miles. I agree with you that something is wrong somewhere. I wonder why Nissan changes the diff so easily unless they know where the problem really is.

Sorry if I'm sounding pushy, I don't mean to. But under lemon law you could easily get the cash to have a tru-trac installed by a good shop. Anyone that's done this has NO complaints. Lemon law filing is a piece of cake.
I haven't heard anything at all about a redesigned '07 diff.
You're over 60,000 miles. How much longer are these guys going to help you out? Maybe you have a dealer that you can trust and that's the part I can't understand.
The only reason I can think of for them replacing the diffs so readily is because they know the diffs are junk, and plan on taking the hit--until the warranty runs out.

I have not ruled out either the lemon law or going through arbitration with the BBB. I have talked to lemon law lawyers and to the BBB. Personally, I would rather get the truck fixed if Nissan has a new redesigned diff. If I find they do not have a new redesign, then that means the 07 2wd are also at risk. My truck is a 04 and I planned on trading it for a 07 or 08 Titan. If this diff is not fixed by Nissan, then my next truck will not be a Titan. As for the warranty, everytime they install a new diff in my truck then that diff is warranted for 12000 mi or 12 months. I have time to see if the fix is in or it goes out again. This diff issue has become a challenge to me to find out what is the problem through all the Nissan bs and lying. I will trade this truck by the time I have 75000 miles on it no matter what. I use it for my bussiness and I don't keep them any longer anyway. Maybe a little crazy, but what the hell! By the way, they have changed the 07 diff for my truck from a S27A to a ZHO2D like the ZHO5D redesigned diff in the 4wd. Makes me wonder if they have changed it.

Holy cow!!! I just stumbled across this - Mossy Nissan replaced the entire rear end on my 04 CC 4x4 back in Feb (I think) it always "clunked" going from Reverse to Drive or if parked on a little slope. It wasn't until I went 4-wheeling out in Hollister (CA) that the tubes started leaking fluid where they go in to the the center of the rear end. I went in and acted stupid (is that supposed to do that? can you put new o-rings in there? hahaha) then they replaced it. no issues so far - I was happy That I got the cool new Finned diff cover. Honestly I wouldn't know if the new one is making a whine or not due to the exhaust. Should I wonder if mine really has a "newer" design??

I think it is about time everyone here on Titan Talk and those who visit this site start a call-in or write-in campaign to Nissan to get an answer on these rearends. We are over 10,000 strong here and with visitors maybe even more so we should just flood Nissan with phone calls and letters to get some real answers. Maybe we should just pick out one week and just tie up their phone lines with questions on these rearends.

I see. Yeah hopefully the ZHO means 4 pinion instead of 2. It's been that way with the earlier designs. With your circumstances I'd probably be taking the same approach. I put about 11,000 miles per year on, and plan to keep it for 10 years so we are in different boats (errr trucks )

It's a great idea, but THEY tied ME up for over an hour several times already with their BS, and that wasn't on a group effort. These guys have a nice cushion up, and can stay on the phone all day, plus put you on hold. They are getting paid for the time, we are not. I understand your enthusiasm, it's just I've been through it already and they really don't respond the way you would expect a normal person to. They really suck!!!!!!!!!
I was hoping that the 07 diffs would hold up but a friend of mine here in Houston just blew his diff at 2200 miles. His was a 2wd, non B/T, XE. His diff is the ZHO2A which should be the higher gear not the 336. He said he started hearing a whine and within 2 days it was real loud. Had it towed to dealer and he is now in rental. Surprise! His Service Mgr did not act surprised. He asked why they sold him a truck when Nissan knows the diffs has problems. Mgr said they just fix them. Sound familar. I will update when I get his info.

Thats terrible news. With all the confusion on which rears were good/bad or redesigned, I had alot of hope that the ZH model was something new and improved. Hopefully its just an isolated failure. I dont know what else to say, I just really hope we dont see 07's start to crater. I'll be looking forward to the details.

I agree. I have been insisting that Nissan put one of the new ZH diffs in my 04 since I have had 4 failures of the 027A diff. Now I am almost convinced that they have fixed only the locker because it had the most failures. The 2wd diffs must be the same 2 spider gears as before. I wish Nissan would tell us what the real problem is but I don't think they can afford to. Everyone would then demand a new diff. I hate to see some of the 04-06 models start failing after the 60 k warranty runs out. There will be a lot of unhappy folks. If I was going to buy a new 07 or 08 Titan right now, Nissan would have to convince me how they fixed the problem. If not, then I would probably be driving a new Chevy or Toyota. 2 more new models, but at least I have a chance of a good truck where I have a problem believing Nissan right now.

Not to change the subject dramatically but, I am about to change the diff oil out of my 2006 titan 2wd. I am thinking about using Amsoil. If so, what grade should I be putting in it?
I would stick with factory specs to keep your warranty. 75-140

Should be. When you change your fluid, check the magnet on the bottom drain plug for metal particle buildup or metal chips. Also note if the oil is very dirty or black. You must have a ZH02A or ZH02B differential. One is 294 gears and one is 336 gears.

Thanks TallTexan. I just bought a new (used) boat, a Maxum 2400 SCR, weight about 5,100 lbs, trailer about 1,200-1,400., tongue weight 600-800 lbs. I have been reading a lot here about rear diff failure. I normally drive really conservativley and have about 13,500 miles on my 2006 Titan. I get a little worried about pulling heavier loads now. Of course i drop it into 4 and tow mode. Just added air bags. I am putting temp gauge on for transmission heat. I understood that using a synthetic diff oil would help.
have 2006 Titan owners been reporting many problems with rear diff?
