I only have 22,000 on my 04. (short commute to work). I don't tow with it and will be soon towing my 92 SE-R to the track. If I have a PML cover with sythetic in the case, will the rear end blow out? Is this a heat problem or a gear forging process failure? why the hell can't they make stronger gears for the truck when their are many issues? Build a unit like the heavy duty Dodge Ram. I wonder what Toyota has?
Whats up with the seals? you have to wonder if they are not installed properly. axel seals will leak if they are tapped in wrong.
It's back! I picked up my Titan from the dealership yesterday. Completely new rearend assembly....I was told an '09. They gave me 1 year/12,000 mile warranty on it....I hope this solves my problems with my Titan!

Reason: fixed!
I just had a major failure of the rear differntial of my 2005 Nissan Titan truck, at 73,000 miles. I note from other websites that this may be a "class" problem due to the many reported failures of the rear differntial. Has Nissan agreed to reimburse owners for this expense? In my case around $3500!!!
85K 2006 Titan SE KC, took the truck to Buena Park Nissan. They told me my whole rear end needed to be replaced. (I originally went in for a faulty radiator cap) The total was $3k. I bought an extended warranty when I bought the truck. All I had to pay for was my deductible, and the Nissan Matic K synthetic fluid.
04 Titan, 71,000 miles. Rear diff locked up on the highway in rush hour traffic yesterday. Dropped it into first and was able to grind my way out of it. Took the dealership a day to figure out what was wrong with it. Quoted 2500 parts and labor for a "new" one.
My truck has the tow package, but I've never towed anything with it. I'm 30 and I don't hot rod this thing. Very disappointed in Nisan. I don't expect to have major problems with a vehicle until past 100,000 miles. I will never buy another Nisan.
My question is, can I put a newer model rear end on an 04 or am I stuck with the 04 rear end. The guy at the stealership told me that the newer rear ends are much more expensive. My worry is that this replacement rear end is going to blow out maybe even sooner then the previous one.
I'm glad I stopped by here else I wouldn't have known that this many other people are having problems. I'll definitely be filling out the complaint form.

What should I tell the dealer and the warranty companies adjuster to be looking for? I just checked and there are now up to 72 rear end complaints on the NHTSA site.
I'll keep you guys all posted .....I have a warranty and I will push this company to the limit....they will cover this or they will regret it when i report them to the BBB.
