I must have got a good one... I have about 13,350 miles on my 05 4x4, and I bet 4000 of them I've been 4hi/4lo locked...I love to wheel, I love Nissans, as this is my 3rd at only 22 years old (00 Frontier CC-sold, 05 Titan 4x4 KC, and 86.5 Hardbody-trail rig) and I haven't had one problem out of any of them, and I drive the s**t out of them, seriously... but i've been on this site (just not posting much, just reading/learning/laughing) and I have seen more posts about more problems with the Titan...I'm thankful its not me... is nybody else with me on this?, no probs?
Don't get too confident yet. Mine went out at 28,500 mi

But I think I've driven mine hard enough to compensate for the extra mileage...... and what exactly do you mean by, "went out"?...
According to service manager, pinion gears chewed up. Replaced the rear but just discovered, (5000 mi later), the breather isn't there so they have it ordered.

Same thing happened to me with the breather.

Is there a running total of diff failures, just a numerical value? How many have been reported to NHTSA? Answered my own question. Looks like 24 reported for 2004MY, 14 for 2005MY and 4 for 2006 MY. 42 total.

I think those numbers are pretty good considering there were only around 20 2-3 months ago. I think it helped that whiteLE had the patience to individually ask every one of us to file. The numbers have steadily climbed lately. Every time someone posts a failure, they are asked to file it. (Not sure if it's just white asking)
thanks Cheif for the kudos. I actually haven't had a chance send out emails to everyone that reported failures here initially but that haven't provided a NHSTA complaint number. I was hoping to do that this weekend but may not get a chance.
If the answer is 42 just from the forum members then it seems significant to me.
Anyone been in touch with the case manager to ask about the probable course of action that will be taken?
Once upon a time I learned that in order to make any government agency act it's often necessary to stir the pot. Of course the opposit is true as well... if the pot becomes over-stirred it can be very counterproductive.
Put me on that list. Only 7500 miles on mine, 05 kc.
I knew it was just a matter of time, same as with the brake judder.
i'll be out of commision for a least a week till parts come in.
2BIT--sorry to hear about your failure. Please reply with your ODI failure # (got to link above) and the information about your truck that is contained in the attachment.

Result-- After a lengthy investigation, 150,000 Muranos recalled to have Alternator replaced with new fixed one. Reason-- Unsafe, could cause crash
Nissan started putting in New alternators at factory mid-2005,before recall, because of the ongoing investigation by NHTSA

Nissan Titan-- Rear Diff failures
2004-- 5
2005-- 4
2006-- 0
As you can see from the Murano reports it doesnt take alot to open up an investigation. So please report>>> http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/
42 reported here only 9 reported to NHSTA. I think 42 would open an investigation. Least we would know what is causing the problem
Well, I GUESS SOMEONE HAS TO BE THE FIST, AND THAT WAS ME,
