That seems it could be the likely culprit. If you have the utili-track system make sure what you are hearing is not the bottom utili-track rail cover slidning back into the tailgate on takeoff and into the cab when you brake. One would hope that the Nissan techs would be aware that the covers do this and not replace a perfectly good rear end then again....
Maybe the reason that not very many have replied is that it really isn't as big a problem as we think it is. I noticed that out of the 8417 people who have viewed this thread, only 112 responded and not all of those reported a problem.

That is kind of the point he wants all members to post whether or not the have had a problem.

Your right but that is exactly the point we are tryng to get at. The poll isn't just for folks with a failure. I am actually more interested in the number of trucks without issues so we can get a better handle on the failure rate. At this point we can only draw this info from total membership and relative number of failures which would put it it around 1-3%. There is a relatively high degree of uncertainty associated with that estimate though.
For those of you who would like to help promote the poll, I added the blip below to my signature. You can cut and paste into your signature or do your own or not do it at all! Your call. Thanks!
REAR END FAILURE POLL: PLEASE VOTE! (EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT HAD A FAILURE)!!!!
I Don't Have The Utility Track. I Need Some Help. They Replaced My Rear Differential And I Still Have The Noise. I'm Taking My Truck To Another Dealer For A Second Opinion.
Please go to the link on the attachment and file your complaint with NHSTA and reply with your ODI # and your pickup information. If you have any questions, let us know.
