It may not be the diff. since the replacement didn't fix it. The dealer has to fix it. You have a warranty. Call Nissan if or try another dealer.

Question Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

Thanks for report of # reported to NHTSA. But, do you know which ones are failing (e-locks, 4x4's, big-tow, etc.)?

Thanks,

AJ

Looke at WhiteLEs failure log. All those failures are registererd with the NHTSA. Vast majority are 4X4s.

That's true Toxman, as far as I can tell, it's the only feature that seems to make a difference regardless of trim level, packages, or model year.

Now if I could just hack into Nissan's mainframe computer ...then again I probably don't want to know!!!!

Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

DAAAAAMMN!!!! All this post for this problem huh? Oh well you might as well add mine too, just got it off the lot a couple of months ago and 4 weeks into that I started hearing a humming/squealing sound.I mentioned it on my first service call with the dealer but they couldn't hear it,but the last couple of weeks it's been gettin' loud so I brought it in today so finally at least they acknowledged that there's a problem and they're going to fix it.Hopefully IT is the only problem and it won't replicate itself after a few months.....

Re: Here's # of Rear Diff Failures Reported

add me too.... last night i get to my truck after work, start moving and all of a sudden there is a LOUD CLUNK, engine revs, truck doesnt move.... get off the gas, revs come down, diff catches, and truck moves, but the whole way home there was a CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK. Luckily i only drive 1 mile home from the bus, so i was able to keep it under 20 mph.

Funny thing is, i went to the dealer last tuesday about the issue.... they're response?? "Come back if it gets worse"

Needless to say i'm going to find a different dealer service dept to take the truck to for this job and from now on.
