Any rear-end failures with "helper springs"?

I don't know if this has been addressed, but there are some posts suggesting that wheel hop and axle wrap could be a contributing factor to the rear end failures. Any failures with Titans with the various helper springs?

Nope. No helpers on mine either time.

I changed the gear oil at 5,500, swapped to the PML cover, added helper springs early on. No rear differential problems so far at 31,000.

Same here... Helper springs put on at 7k. Finned cover at 18k. Gear oil changes about every 5k. Now close to 30k. Only diff. problem is an axle seal is starting to leak. I have about 5000 miles worth of towing items from 3k to 9k lbs.. Yet I must admit I'm very gentle with my truck, no need to show off..

I don't think there are any rear end problems from female drivers either, doesn't mean you should get in line for a sex change.

Re: Any rear-end failures with "helper springs"?

Very true grunge311! There is no true scientific method involved in the question, although if there were a number of failures using helper springs, then I may be concerned that it may make the problem worse... If there are no failures at all when using extra springs, it may be slightly relevant toward the positive. Also, on a side note, female drivers may drive the truck a bit less agressively on average and may not have many failures, so that could have some relevance also (certainly not worth a sex change though!) LOL!

Re: Any rear-end failures with "helper springs"?

Installed finned cover and filled with synthetic oil at 3,000 miles. Now just installed helper springs plus traction springs. No problems so far and I visit the track often. The Titan has now 16,000 miles.

I think most of the rear end failures are a mostly (if not all) "stock" suspension equipment.

Re: Any rear-end failures with "helper springs"?

I've had the helper springs on my truck since 4,300 mi. and now have close to 13,000 mi. No problems with rear as of yet. My truck (05 LE) came with the finned cover and synthetic gear lube, though I replaced it recently with supertech 75w140 synth. The fluid level prior to that, however, was OK and within spec. Old oil was very clean. That was with 10,500 mi.

I have a little over 38k and have done nothing to my rear end. No problems to speak of yet.
