Re: Accident

I enjoyed two accidents in 05 and am hoping to pass the baton to someone else.

$4k to $5k for that hit? Internal damage we can't see? My December hit was similar but cost $3k so I am just trying to figure out what else you had done.

Anyways, let's not repeat okay?

Re: Accident

I think brush guards protect from "brush" only! Every time I see a brush bar or push bar in an accident, it seems like they don't do anything but possibly damage the vehicle more.

Re: Accident

Aside from looking like a huge ugly proboscus (my opinion), those "guards" are useless. Maybe a chromes one would look nicer but both cause a lot of damage if hit. Deer also take out these pieces of tin.

Re: Accident

the frame was damaged by the guard but the guard saved engine componets, and they replaced the bottem bumper, the front side pannel, replaced the door hinges on the drivers side and for some reason the brush guard is on there...again

Re: Accident

That hit was on the corner of the truck. What engine componant could it have saved?

gots to disagree here, guards do help save you, more so with deer hits, I put westin brand ones on, they have grills in the pieace that covers the lights, and are pretty heavy duty. cost more then most other brands.

I smacked a deer doing about 50mph at 3am , it torn that crap out out my front end and guard but it saved my headlights and radiator, so i was able to continue driving which is why I bought it.

BTW they are not made of tin. have you ever hit a deer? do you realise how much damage they can cause?
heres a cool vid to watch and youll see the guard doing its job.

Re: Accident

I agree about the deer thing...I hit a deer going 75mph on the freeway with that same grille guard that just got wrecked and it saved my truck...and the guard wasnt even damaged...

Re: Accident

I destroyed a deer going 50 mph with no grill gaurd and it did not make it into the engine block. The Front was pretty much crushed 4 grand to fix but suprised how well the front end held up and did not cave into the engine. I also had 2 accidents in 05 and somebody scratched the side of my truck in a parking lot on x-mas. So I pass the baton to somebody else as well......Hoping for an accident free 06!

Some picks of the accident damage are half way down the page listed below.

Re: Accident

it is true the brush guard is only for brush

but i would have bought a mans guard anyway not that girly guard

but it wont stop a car no matter

also i have hit deer with my guard (i had on my Ford, it was a heavy duty guard) and the deer bounce away but that was going about 15-25 mph

Re: Accident

If the damage will require the truck going into the shop, why even care how much it costs the insurance company? If the guard, hood and bumper get whacked, who cares about the headlights. I did 7 grand damage to a Taurus by hitting a deer, guess what, I got brand new headlights while they replaced everything else.
