Insurance Rates go up on Titan

Well I got my new insurance cards the other day from State Farm and they raised my rates because of numerous claims on the Nissan Titan. It only went up around $5 a month but there was a letter stating why it was raised. This happen to anyone else?

That makes no sense to me....If the claims were from stolen Titans maybe, but accidents are caused by humans not by a brand name. Was it because of cost regarding replacement parts?

Could you elaborate on the cause of these so called "claims?"

Re: Insurance Rates go up on Titan

state farm did that to me also needless to say it was more along the lines of 15-20 more a month(not sure what it was for sure) so I cancelled and went with esurance and it is 50 a month cheaper.

Re: Insurance Rates go up on Titan

in my quest for my titan purchase, i checked insurance and it was $274 more a year then my 99 suburban. this is very acceptable, seeing the suburban is 7 years older, and worth no more then a 1/3 of the value.

Another State Farm ego trip, worst insurance ever, file a couple of claims and they will cancel you out.

Hasn't been my personal experience at all. I have been with State Farm for almost 30 years with numerous vehicles and not accident free. Significant damage hitting a deer in one car, complete side repair in third, three windshield replacements, launched a car into a garage door due to faulty clutch pedal, T-boned twice in the rear on two separate cars, and totaled one car.

In fact, State Farm settled the totaled car claim in two days and had a check in my hand in less than four after an investigation, plus financing was prearranged for the new car purchase. My agent has also written claim checks from his office to speed up claim process and NEVER had a rate increase, and their service has always been top notch.

In the past we have received many adjustments in the form of a check or credit balance during years when claims are lower than normal for State Farm. Very few companies will do this for their policy holders. Rate changes are the nature of the beast.

Maybe State Farm is watching the numerous drag race threads and burnout videos on this forum and wondering what the heck all of us Titan owners are really doing with their vehicles.

Re: Insurance Rates go up on Titan

I have state farm my insurance went down on my titan and up on my old subaru. Now i pay less per month. It seems like every year around this time rates go up on any all wheel or four wheel drive. All the kids going up to the passes to go skiing or snow boarding and dont know how to drive in the snow.

Re: Insurance Rates go up on Titan

Insurance rates are highly dependant upon the state in which you reside or garage your vehicle. There are way too many variables to compare rates on the forum, IMO. Even the address where you reside can have rates different from a person who lives only a few blocks away.

Comparison shopping is the key.... but keep in mind that some less expensive companys have very poor service. You can hate Consumer Reports but the satisfaction ratings are based on large surveys of the members and are very real life, IMO.

Re: Insurance Rates go up on Titan

State Farm Just sent me a $16 check. Lowered rates were do to a reclassification of my driving experience. This is the second time State Farm has lowered the rates on the Titan.

I may be out on a limb here but maybe it's because the visibility is so poor in these trucks and people are getting into a higher than typcial amount of accidents. Insurance is usually dicated by statistics of some form or another. I have never had a wreck in my life but feel closer to it in this truck than any other vehicle simply because I just can't see past those massive mirrors and pilars very well.

Re: Insurance Rates go up on Titan

Or perhaps its the pedestrian friendly rear bumper and the extreme crumple zones built into the truck to protect the occupants from minor skirmishes which should technically leave a truck with a ding rather than a major multi-part DENT.

I do like the adrenaline rush of driving my powerful yet delicate truck though.
