The unit should be up under the dash close to the fuse panel. You can also just call the dealer to find out the brand they use.

Dealer says it is a Nissan! Doesn't roll down any windows either.

Nissan doesn't make such a unit. If they did, you'd be able to order it as a factory option. If you can't hold down the unlock button to roll the windows down while started with the remote (and before putting the key in and turning it to "ON"), they left a jumper off during the install. There's an extra wire needed during the install that my dealer told me about when we had it put in the wifes Quest. The reason I know this is because we had it in the last Quest (that Nissan replaced...long story) and when it was installed in the new 05 Quest we were able to operate the power liftgate, sliders and windows. We couldn't do that on the last Quest.

Re: Nissan Remote Starter

I am wondering if there is a way to disable it while working under the hood so 'accidental' starting is not possible.

Yes. Scoll up and read posts 1 and 3.

Re: Nissan Remote Starter

Just called the dealer again. They said there is no way to disable it. No switch at the fuse box. Works with the hood up. Guess I'll have to find the module and determine the brand. The one I installed on the T-Bird (Bulldog Security) had both a hood switch and a lead that disabled it when grounded.

Thanks!

Re: Nissan Remote Starter

Well, I found the damn thing. I finally had time, daylight and good weather, which rarely happens in my life. There it was, a nice little microswitch under the steering column. It wasn't labeled or anything. I guess the mechanic is keeping it a secret! I went ahead and put a label under the hood and on the switch.

mmmmm, yes. Except you said it was near the fuse box (thats on the passenger side)! I am just disappointed that the dealer did not inform me (in fact they said it did not even have a switch) or label it. DEALERS!!

Cheers!

Re: Nissan Remote Starter

Dealers suck ***...lol.. The only problem I see with having a remote starter work through the key fob is the range would stink. I like the ability to start mine from couple miles...LOL

True. I also said to ask the dealer where they put it because it can be anywhere. Ours is right there when you open the little access panel forhe fuse block in our Quest. That hides it nicely. You can also have it installed through the plastic so its reachable without having to remove any panels...as long as it was in a hidden spot so it wouldn't look like crap, that would probably be th best for placement.

I know you did, which is what I found funny!!! They told you there was no such switch yet they did, in fact, install one. Scary

Re: Nissan Remote Starter

The one I installed connects to the battery with an inline fuse about 12 inches from the battery.I always pull that fuse to be safer when I had to go to the dealer.
