I pretty much avoid driving the wife's car at all costs. In an unlucky turn of events I found myself in a heavy downpour in her BMW X3 the other day. For the most part, I can't stand that thing but I have to admit that the AWD is really nice. It pulls through rain soaked streets with ease and really handles good. I think some of the full-size SUVs have AWD or some type of traction control so I am wondering when one of the Titan/F150/Tundra, etc. will come out with this? Am I dreaming or does anyone think this may happen someday?
chevy silverado SS has it now. I haven't read anything in my motortrend. kinda scary if nissan does AWD if people have complaints about just the rear diff.

I wouldn't be surprised if it happens someday. I would also like to have AWD. The only one I know of that does is the SS Silverado's. At least for a few years they did.
If you consider the Ridgeline a truck, it has a variable torque management 4WD system, which sounds to me like AWD. I saw one yesterday and I have to admit, the darn thing is big, same size as the Avalanche.
The Armada LE 4X4 is AWD. Just leave it in AUTO mode and ....you now have AWD. There must be a reason for now offering it on the Titan.

The only difference between the two is a differential between front and rear axles. You can use 4WD in the rain....been doing it problem free forever. I personally perfer 4WD because, unlike an AWD vehicle, you can switch to 2WD with a 4WD vehicle for whatever reason. You have no reason to have AWD on dry pavement anyhow so...maybe I've missed the point of why one wants AWD over 4WD. I don't see the difference otherwise.

Awd is better for slippery on road driving snow or rain unless its really deep snow, you don't have to switch it on and off between snowy spots and dry pavement. 4wd is better for off roading because of the low range, the one thing I don't like about all wheel drive is you can't turn it off when you want to have some fun lighting up the rears.
Any ideas if transplanting the AWD switch on the Titan would work.
Is the driveline of the Armada the same as the titan, if so
then can we transplant the electronics of the Armada AWD switch to the Titan?
If the GM and Dodge etc folks can manage it I am sure the superior Titan design should be able to handle it!
Should have had the auto 4x4 option from the start!
With $$$, anythings possible. Just adding the switch isn't enough. You'd have to install an Armada LE transfer case that, unlike the one we have, allows for slip between front and rear wheels and can allow for a changing torque split.

The Pinnacle site shows an Armada transfer case for about $1380 and a Titan t-case for $1460. I wonder what's up with that
