I would have bought a chevrolet 1500. I've had chevys for the last 20 or so years and have always had great luck with them. The reason I bought my Titan: I went to the car show in 04 and fell in love with the Titan soooo roomy. Plus the fact the they changed the Silverado's body style... Just too ugly. Very hapy with my Titan so far.

The Chevy was not a consideration at all. It is a death trap and ranked very poor in crash tests.

I had a 94 Chevy that I put over 160K mile on it with regular maintanence and an alternator. Then I had a 2000 Tundra with close to 100K with no problems. I prefered the Tundra to the Chevy as far as power, comfort, and room. I would have gone with the Toyota again.
toyotas shouldnt be considerd a full size truck same as a dakota its midsized.
but thats where i would have headed except for the fact that their too small and pricey.....

Can't think that I've ever looked at a single safety rating for any vehicle nor considered safety as a deciding factor ever. First is raw speed, handling, etc. Next is comfort, then looks, price, reliability, etc. I think safety for me rates about the same as if it does or doesn't have rain sensing wipers.
My second choice is the F250 if no Titan. You can modify it to go real fast.
I had a 87 Toyota extended cab long bed pickup that I drove for over 200,000 miles before I finally traded it off for a Chevy Silverado some years back. I'll tell you what, you could cut a fart that would have more horsepower than that little 2.2L engine, but damn it ran forever without complaint. And got near 30mpg to boot!
I would imagine the Tundra is one dependable *** truck to be brutally honest. But lord do they sacrifice in performance.

understood, but they are big enough to possibly have been considered for some us, at least for me i looked at them. Actually i looked at all these trucks. Part of my reason for settling on the Titan was that for the price i paid i got so much more truck then what was being offered by any other brand.
